At ZURB I worked with clients of all sizes to kickoff a product design sprint and produce a finished set of deliverables—typically this included a polished visual design, front-end code for web pages, and a style guide. Working at ZURB felt like boot camp. I learned so much in such a short amount of time. I was responsible for planning strategy, sketching (I became an expert with a Sharpie), wireframing, visual design, front-end code, and QA (for some contracts I still had to test for IE6 🤢).
However, I think the highlight of working at ZURB was the opportunity to help maintain Foundation. Foundation is an open source design system (back then we called them "frameworks") for websites, and it was one of the first to be responsive by default. I ended up making a lot of contributions. This is what got me interested in open source code, and it eventually led me to GitHub.
