Creation of the Perlego engineering function, design and implementation of the original software whilst growing the team to scale up the business.
• Hands-on software engineering leadership for 2-3 years building out the subscription platform applications and teams.
• Established modern software engineering and experimentation practices setting up agile and continuous delivery practices facilitating daily deployments and A/B testing.
• Setup mixture of strategic suppliers to augment Perlego capabilities and provide project-based support establishing build vs buy criteria.
• Facilitated fundraising efforts (Series A + B) through the engineering overview and due-diligence support.
• Built out the engineering organisation and hired 50+ engineers across a range of technical disciplines. Championed skills development with L&D programmes and company-wide hackathons.
• Co-lead the design and implementation of the disaster recovery, backup and information security processes leading incident response and defining processes.
• Lead and coached a team of engineering managers established engineering department measures and objectives to guide managers and strategic decision making.
• Creation of the career development pathways to grow engineering skills and organisation capabilities developing strong engineering culture and maintaining low employee churn.
