I created a portion of the "plumbing" to help integrate overlapping suites of APIs. The final goal was an abstraction layer over the similar functionality from each provider. Future development may occur in that layer, rather than redundant work in each underlying API. I expanded my knowledge of AWS services, and contributed to the architectural process.

Previously, I helped design and implement a real-time messenger web application. To expedite the hiring process for our customers, recruiters and candidates are notified of new messages via email and/or SMS. The stack consists of TypeScript run on Node.js, GraphQL APIs, various AWS services, and Twilio's programmable SMS.

I helped incrementally refactor a monolithic codebase into microservices with well-defined domains. The monolith stack included PHP and MySQL; the refactored codebase used Kubernetes, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.

To ensure sustainable version control, I also contributed to an adoption of Git Flow, to effectively enable a CI/CD process using CircleCI.

Each summer, I acted as a mentor for interns; my responsibilities included guiding design, implementation, and refinement of new features. I truly intended to advise, rather than provide strict direction (of course, I offered correction when appropriate). I believe that a light-touch approach was mutually beneficial: it allowed interns a measure of autonomy; it also exposed me to perspectives and ideas that I hadn't considered, and which may have otherwise gone unheard.

I created an extensible JavaScript library to render assessments in a browser. The library allowed for many interactive question formats that would be impossible with pen and paper, such as plotting graphs and sorting answers.
