I'm a full-stack software engineer with nearly two decades of experience in all aspects of development and maintenance of large-scale e-commerce sites, with emphasis on object-oriented design, scalable architecture and data model, transactional and thread safety, API design, storage and troubleshooting. I (only half-jokingly) consider Java a second language, and have deep familiarity with core Java web technologies such as the Spring Framework, Servlets, and Java Persistence Framework/Hibernate. I've recently picked up various state-of-the-art DevOps knowledge, including AWS and RDS management, monitoring with Sentry, Docker/Kubernetes and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

In addition to backend development, I've had 15+ years of experience with web development including CSS3, HTML 5 and Javascript. I also have over 5 years of experience developing iOS applications that have made it into the iTunes Top 5 for photo/video and entertainment apps.

I've been an early team member at three startups with successful (acquisition) exits, and believe that my contributions to company culture over the years are of equal importance to my technical expertise. I've been fortunate to have outstanding mentors to guide me through my career so far, and look to pay that forward. I heavily value software craftsmanship, architecting code that is readable, self-documenting and reusable, along with refactoring and code cleanup.
