As a Content Design Manager, Sr. Lead Content Designer, and the very first Content Designer ever at Rivian, I had the unique opportunity to create a content design practice at Rivian. This work happened in the midst of the pandemic, during a time when many of us were under stress or struggling with new working paradigms. I'm incredibly proud of my award-winning work at Rivian. Here's what I did:
• Established a brand new content design practice at Rivian at a time when content design is still new and uncommon in the automotive industry.
• Hired, trained, led, and coached a team of 4 content designers, who created content for the Rivian R1T, R1S, and RPV (Rivian Prime Van).
• Shaped content vision across 7 vehicle product teams, and ensured quality of final copy:
⁃ ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), navigation, and self-driving team
⁃ 2 media, phone, and entertainment teams for consumer and commercial products
⁃ 3 hardware, kinematics, drivability, and smart accessories teams
⁃ Vehicle systems and frameworks team
• Identified content design challenges and solutions for our organization
• Led vehicle UX strategy for privacy, accessibility, belonging, and feature education
• Co-designed notifications framework
• Designed content for showcase of future products and features
• Created, maintained, and contributed to design system and content creation tools:
‣ Company-wide resources
⁃ Rivian Name List of product, feature, and part names (creator and lead)
⁃ Rivian Style Guide (co-creator and lead)
⁃ Rivian Localization Style Guide (co-creator and onboarding trainer)
‣ Vehicle UX resources
⁃ Talking Like a Truck vehicle UX style guide (creator and lead)
⁃ Rivian vehicle UX Human Interface Guidelines (contributor and lead)
⁃ Rivian vehicle UX design system and components (contributor)
