# Christine S. > Building AI @ Astronomer | Founder @ Kaveat | Z Fellow Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/christines I am a builder with purpose. I'm excited by the current advancements in machine learning and strive to leverage my technical skillset to help make traditionally opaque systems more transparent and to equip people with tools to navigate and improve their everyday lives. ## Work Experience ### Product Engineer @ Astronomer Jan 2024 – Present | New York City Metropolitan Area Office of the CTO ### CTO @ Kaveat Jan 2022 – Present | New York City Metropolitan Area ### Z Fellow @ Z Fellows Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | San Francisco Bay Area ### Senior Associate Software Engineer @ Capital One Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 Worked on a platform used by finance teams to run CCAR models testing various stress scenarios. Some of the technologies I worked with were Java Springboot, Angular 8/11, and AWS. ### Associate Software Engineer @ Capital One Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | McLean, Virginia ### Undergraduate Teaching Assistant @ Cornell University College of Engineering Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | Ithaca, New York Area Fall 2017: CS 4700 (Principles of Artificial Intelligence) Fall 2018 - Spring 2019: CS 4410 (Operation Systems) I engaged with and helped struggling students with homework, projects or concept questions during Office Hours and on Piazza. I also aided the professor in grading sessions for homework and tests. ### Classroom Technologist @ Cornell University ILR School Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | Ithaca, New York Area I assisted professors in setting up tech tools needed during their lecture and oversaw any problems that arose mid-lecture. I also facilitated and coordinated the setup of teleconferences and/or distance learning sessions to meet the hosts' needs. ### Vice President of Marketing and Communications @ Cornell European Business Society Jan 2016 – Jan 2019 | Ithaca, New York Area I organized and helped run club recruitment each semester by determining the recruitment timeline and designing quarter cards, overlays, banners, and the club website to appeal to potential new members. I also contributed to creating a thorough market plan to help a struggling local bar regain its business. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Target Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area I contributed to the development of a scalable RESTful API to automate the validation of new Checkout software deployments by integrating multiple testing suites and aggregating all test results in a MongoDB DBaaS. For real-time updates, I implemented Slack notifications which displays test configurations with user tracking and build statuses to a designated Slack channel, and setup email and text alerts of new tests that were run and when the results are available. I also integrated the API into the Spinnaker carts deployment pipeline and setup a UI to manually trigger testing and query results back in a configured table. This will be used by the Checkout team (and potentially other groups in the near future) as a telemetry tool for deployment health. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Labcyte Inc. Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area I created a Node.JS web application to perform diagnostic tests on Labcyte's Echo Liquid Handler machine, used for microtesting and liquid transfers via sound waves. I used the WCF web service from the Node.JS side in order to communicate with the Echo server. To improve the accessibility of the machine data, the instrument state is monitored and real-time diagnostic data is displayed directly on the webpage rather than on their downloadable and robust computer applications. I also implemented controls allowing for diagnostic tests, i.e. moving to row X column Y, and corresponding data changes are reflected on the webpage. For security, I implemented a password-protected read-write mode where commands can be executed on the instrument using the web app from any computer, anywhere, with security authentication and administrative access using a MongoDB database. ### Videographer, Video Editor @ Slope Media Group Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Ithaca, New York Area As a Videographer and Video Editor under the Slope Media TV department, I was involved in all aspects of video production. I filmed onsite for events occurring on campus and for the Slope Media mini series. My largest project was the Cornell Fashion Collective Spring Fashion Show, in which I helped interview designers prior to the show, filmed backstage and the entirety of the show, and edited the footage into a 3-4 minute highlights video. ### Developer in Training @ Cornell App Development (CUAppDev) Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 I trained in iOS development using the Swift Language and XCode, an iOS app making software. I coded weekly app projects, such as creating an application to store student information, a block drawing game, a 2D shooting game, and a chat application. ## Education ### Master of Engineering - MEng in Computer Science Cornell Tech Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 ### Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science Cornell University ### High School Diploma Leland High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/christineshen14 --- Source: https://flows.cv/christines JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/christines/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-20
