# Cindy Liu > Student Location: Berkeley, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/cindyliu During my undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley I majored in Data Science with an emphasis in Economics, and I furthered my interests by completing my Master's Degree in Computer Science at ASU. I have most enjoyed improving my ability to program with different coding languages, preprocess large amounts of data efficiently, analyze data to identify impactful patterns or trends, and clearly communicate my findings to my teammates. What I enjoy about my work the most though is that I am able to make meaningful changes in the real world by revealing insightful information and solving problems such that people's lives are better. Some major work experiences I have had include working as an Applications Developer Intern at Intel for an image analysis and fraud detection project, interning as a robot master at covariant.ai, and interning for a bioinformatics lab at UCSF for a DNA mutation project. These enhanced my skills and capabilities to perform under strict deadlines and cohesive teamwork. I hope to work at a place that both challenges my knowledge and interests, but also emphasizes the importance of teamwork and mentorship. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer Intern @ Posit (formerly RStudio) Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 Project: Update and Modernize Jump Starts of RStudio Connect Created new jump starts for dash with added new package compatibility including new interactive graphing, cross filtering, and layouts. Removed any obsolete code from previous jump start and updated it with new syntax and functions. Created new jump starts for Jupyter that included interactive charts using stock report data and user specifications Added numerous graphing and data extraction techniques to jump start for pins ### Student NLP Researcher @ Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 Researched n-grams, lemmatization and nuclear physics lexicon for topic modeling Worked on program to auto populate literature database with science research papers and extract elements and chemicals mentioned within using researched NLP methods such as LDA Added a flagging system to the program that tags matches for further user review (i.e. as an allowable way of matching 1H vs H, with a warning note included in the match metadata) ### Application Developer @ Intel Corporation Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Hillsboro, Oregon, United States Project: Image Analysis for Fraud Detection Using AlexNet, developed a program to augment the decision-making capabilities in the progress of identifying similar documents and images during the investigative phase of fraud cases. Streamlined pre-processing of large amounts of data with a focus on error-handling (corrupt or empty files) and detailed documentation through logs and custom emails of important updates. Added an interactive display table for simple viewing and sorting of case results through Power Bi/Tableau ### BioInformatics Lab Intern @ University of California, San Francisco Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Built foundation to graphing and data organizing program from libraries Pandas and JSON to identify mutations in mitochondrial DNA. Automated conversion of Google Scholar data into bibliographies for studies using Python Scholarly Module and JSON. ### Robot Master @ covariant.ai Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Trained artificially intelligent robots to accomplish various tests, gather and analyze data on robots’ performances with an emphasis on depth perception, and evaluate the robots’ strategies on sorting and identifying items ## Education ### Bachelor of Arts in Data Science University of California, Berkeley ### Master's degree in Computer Science Arizona State University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/cindy-liu-25310916b --- Source: https://flows.cv/cindyliu JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/cindyliu/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
