● Developed and maintained core backend services for Amazon Aurora, a high-performance distributed
relational database.
● Led architecture improvements to increase system throughput and reduce resource usage (CPU,
memory, I/O).
● Delivered major features including Enhanced Binlog for Aurora PostgreSQL, improving replication and
recovery through distributed log storage.
● Diagnosed and resolved critical production issues in a high-availability, live cloud environment (over
1M+ RDS instances), including writing bugfixes in C++.
● Built internal tooling in Python (log parsing, data aggregation, and incident triaging) to automate Oncall
tasks and improve engineer response time.
● Refactored core systems for transition from Aurora Managed Storage (AMS) to Aurora PostgreSQL
(APG), enhancing test coverage and system reliability.
● Extended core Aurora Storage features to support Aurora Serverless, enabling dynamic scalability and
improving performance for variable-load workloads.
