# Daiana Birmanova > Product Design | Merging Neuroscience & Psychology with Human-Centered Design | Minerva University Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/daiana ## Work Experience ### Product Design Intern | Student Researcher @ Minerva University Jan 2025 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area At Minerva University, I engage in human-centered UX research within the Psychology Lab, examining how different auditory conditions influence reading comprehension and user experience. I design and run behavioral studies that translate cognitive research questions into usable, participant-centered experiences, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and meaningful data collection. I analyze participant data using Google Sheets and R to identify performance trends, anomalies, and usability issues, and use these insights to inform iterative redesigns of the audio interface that improve user satisfaction and comprehension outcomes. In parallel, I actively assess methodological limitations within ongoing studies. I identify sampling bias in early results and lead efforts to expand recruitment beyond a student-only population to a more diverse public sample in San Francisco, strengthening the validity and generalizability of findings. I implement and advocate for study-design improvements, including optimized pacing, clearer question transitions, and flexible response timing, which result in a measurable 20% increase in response completion quality and reduced participant confusion. I also design and test recruitment materials using Adobe Illustrator, experimenting with visual hierarchy, messaging, and QR-based tracking to optimize engagement. These efforts increase participant enrollment and retention by 27% and support more reliable data collection. Throughout the research process, I synthesize insights and present findings in weekly cross-functional meetings using Figma, Adobe Acrobat, and written reports, collaborating closely with researchers, lab managers, and interns to align on study protocols and continuously improve both the research experience and underlying data quality. ### After-Class Instructor @ HOKALI Jan 2024 – Present | Bay Area I work as a part-time instructor at HOKALI, where I provide after-school classes to children from the ages of 3 to 13 and above. The courses include gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, gymnastics, Lego, and others. My responsibilities at HOKALI do not end with teaching. I also develop lesson plans, facilitate class engagement, and streamline class preparation by managing the budget and resources. This includes coordinating timely grocery deliveries and ensuring readiness for hands-on activities. ### ABA behavior technician @ Alua Astana Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | Astana, Kazakhstan Worked as a behavior interventionalist with children from 3 years old to 22. Used ABA approach to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of each child and build a personalised curriculum. ### Product Designer & Researcher @ Minerva University x Joyous Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | San Francisco Bay Area Led the UX research and product design of an AI-powered journaling app supporting patients with anxiety and depression. Collaborated closely with software engineers, researchers, and stakeholders to synthesize Internal Family Systems and Mindful Self-Compassion frameworks into a responsive clinical prototype. Conducted ethnographic research, over 60 user interviews, and multiple usability tests, iterating user flows and wireframes in Figma through more than five design cycles. Integrated accessibility feedback to improve the end-to-end experience, raising user-reported helpfulness from 70% to 85%. Delivered high-fidelity interactive prototypes and presented outcomes at an academic symposium to faculty, partners, and peers. ## Education ### Minerva University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/daiana-birma - Portfolio: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Od4aCdb7gWCfj2xrsAyhFhmZ5xb1y3Bf?usp=drive_link --- Source: https://flows.cv/daiana JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/daiana/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
