Design for Transformation
We’re a design team within the Finance & Operations organization, under IBM Support. Our goal is to drive the strategy and design of the support transformation by integrating with product and process teams within the org.
My role as a design strategist is to approach problems from a technical perspective, taking into account feasibility and possibility.
When we are in phases that are heavy on business process or non-technical, I’ve taken on project management responsibilities.
Technical Content Redesign
We worked with the technical content team to redesign their learning site for Content writers and strategists. I came into the project late, but was brought in to finish up a base react site with the Carbon Design System as a jump start for the team to be on a simple modern framework.
This allowed the team to ramp up quickly, have a technical stack that has longevity, can scale, and many developers have the skills to build on. They were able to take that work, connect it to their backend, to fully modernize their content site.
Desktop App Development
I developed an experimental prototype to test the capabilities of Electron, a framework for developing Mac desktop apps. In a couple weeks a developed an application to highlight task bar timer updates, tracking of activity to http protocol functions, and desktop app notifications.
Quake - Quality at IBM
Our task was to do some research into quality at IBM.
My main role was a project manager/orchestrator to organize the teams, facilitate workshops, and assist in design research. I focused on archival research, assisted with interviews with stakeholders as well as clients. I also aided in synthesizing information in an easy to understand format to playback to stakeholders.
Austin, Texas Area
Digital Technical Engagement (DTE) is an initiative to provide high quality technical assets for potential clients to learn and try IBM products before buying them. As a development team, we established a platform for our content contributors to submit different types of assets as well as a site (www.ibm.biz/dte-live) to highlight these assets. We continue to strive to improve the contributor experience and integrate these assets into our digital buyer journey.
Some of my responsibilities include:
Building and maintaining a production node.js application
Metrics reporting through Google Analytics and Data Studio
Ongoing operations support for our contributors and submission process
