# Daniel E. Trevino > Software Engineer at SmartThings Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/danieletrevino 17+ years building software across the Android and IoT stack. From the platform's earliest days at Texas Instruments and Qualcomm to launching phones at Sony and scaling one of the largest IoT ecosystems in the world at Samsung SmartThings. Along the way, I co-founded smart fenestra, an IoT startup that won the TechCrunch Disrupt SF Hackathon. That project is what brought me into the SmartThings world and ultimately led to my role at Samsung. Before that, I was a founding engineer at a Y Combinator startup (YC S12), where I led mobile engineering and built both the iOS and Android apps from scratch. More recently, I've been building full-stack systems on my own that integrate large language models with real-time data processing, from database design and feature engineering to model inference and automated decision-making. It's expanded my perspective beyond mobile into end-to-end system architecture where software, data, and intelligence all converge. Led software engineering efforts onsite at Verizon HQ and T-Mobile, serving as the primary point of contact for resolving launch-blocking issues before major device releases. o Built an automated testing framework that replaced T-Mobile's physical robot certification process with software, using ADB-driven touch simulation and XML-based screen validation. Also built a hardware testing rig using LEGO Mindstorms to measure standby-to-screen-on time deltas for carrier compliance. o Developed prototype applications for Sony's innovation team, including a lockscreen ad platform designed to subsidize device costs and a live-streaming nanny cam app that repurposed old Sony phones, years before similar concepts shipped at Samsung. ### Founding Software Engineer @ Y Combinator Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Cupertino, CA o Founding engineer at Registry Love (YC S12), a mobile-first wedding registry platform. Worked directly with the founders to design the product from scratch, from UX flows and screen design to backend data architecture. o Built both the iOS and Android apps, handling everything from camera-based product capture to linking items across major retail platforms into a single unified registry. ### Software Integration Engineer for Accenture @ LG Electronics Jan 2010 – Jan 2010 | San Diego, CA o Android framework engineer on the LG Revolution board bring-up team, resolving multimedia integration issues between Qualcomm and Google code releases.
