# Daniel P. > Front-End Software Engineer at ENFOS Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/danielp I really enjoy building information systems. Currently, I am focused on Full Stack application development using React, Node, and Docker. My programming roots are with Python. I unknowingly enrolled in a Python GIS (Geographic Information systems) methods class in graduate school and that one decision changed my career trajectory. Another decision that changed the way I work was joining the Motion Team at Apple. I worked with so many incredibly smart individuals and embodied many of their successful work habits. One habit is that I stay in the terminal as much as possible. I am very confident in my technical abilities and I am getting better every day. I really care about improving my workflow and is something I consistently address. I know I can contribute, at a high level, on day one. Please reach out if you want to chat. ## Work Experience ### Front-End Software Engineer @ ENFOS Jan 2018 – Present ### iOS Motion QA @ Apple Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Cupertino CA I built and had ownership of a SQLite database ETL process that keeps track of synced device workout data for internal ongoing data collections that allowed engineers to find data important to their specific feature development. I created a website that displayed ongoing participant workout metrics and time series that allowed participants to submit feedback on the accuracy of their data. I automated workflows that efficiently processed device collected data that expedited curating data to quickly identify bugs in unreleased iOS and WatchOS builds. ### GIS Analyst @ VSolvIT Jan 2014 – Jan 2016 | Ventura, CA At a high level, my role entails extensive arcpy and python development in order to deliver high quality tools for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). I have developed and contributed to a number of different efforts including the development of ETL tools, automation of data and metadata management, unit testing (pytest), module documentation (sphinx), file monitoring and workflow triggering (watchdog), geoprocessing rest services and advanced debugging (winpdb). Along with using python, I use Oracle and ArcSDE on a regular basis. I have relevant knowledge of Oracle database properties and enterprise GIS workflows. There are a number of other technologies that I work with on a fairly regular basis that include GitHub, SQL, and ArcServer. ### Geography Department Student Assistant @ California State University, Northridge Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | Northridge, CA As a student assistant, I was responsible for migrating the content of the old Geography Department website to the new website. I was also responsible for updating content of the website when needed. The website is built on CSU Northridge’s Web-One Drupal framework. ### Graduate Research Assistant/Developer @ California State University, Northridge Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | Northridge, CA As a Graduate Research Assistant/Developer I was afforded opportunities to work on a wide range of projects. I was responsible for updating the Center for Geographical Studies website utilizing HMTL, CSS and JavaScript. I created a python Add-in tool that allows a user to click in Arc Map and have that point opened up in either google or bing maps in the browser. I was the Admin/developer for a Microsoft SharePoint staff time tracker that used SharePoint workflows and formulas in order to track staff hours on specific tasks and calculate the remaining project budgets. Also, CSS and JQuery were used in order to hide specific parts of the SharePoint website page or rename elements. I was responsible for creating and publishing map services to ArcGIS Server in order to be viewed in ArcGIS Viewer for Flex 3.0. I was also responsible for configuring the Viewer for Flex. This viewer is used as part of a QC process for the State of California’s Water Board Basin Plan project. I worked on the Caltrans project that required editing enhanced Tigerline data in order to be used in a new Linear Referencing system. I was also responsible for Access SQL queries that showed where data did not match up for various road tables. Lastly, I was responsible for creating and testing workflows in both ArcGIS Desktop and Geomedia for the Caltrans project. ### Graduate Research Assistant @ California State University, Northridge Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | Northridge As a Graduate Research Assistant, I worked closely with geography professor Dr. Yifei Sun’s project: “Using GIS to Evaluate the Effectiveness of LADWP’s Energy Efficiency Programs.” This project utilized Census demographic data at the blockgroup level, City of Los Angeles land parcel and land use data, LADWP’s electricity cost and consumption data at the zip + 4 level, LADWP’s Energy Efficiency program participation data at the zip + 4 level and LADWP’s temperature zone data. I was responsible for number of tasks which included the creation of static maps that displayed the results of the analyses, data clean up utilizing Access and ArcGIS, data analysis utilizing field calculation functions within ArcGIS Desktop, statistical analyses utilizing SPSS, spatial analysis utilizing Spatial Autocorrelation and Moran’s I tools in ArcGIS Desktop and created a report describing and displaying the results using Adobe InDesign. ### GIS Intern @ California State University, Northridge Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Northridge, CA I worked briefly on the California Basin Plan Project updating a database of water constituent data and creating a point feature class of reach points to be used in a Dynamic Segmentation process in order to segment the NHD flowline line feature class. I worked on the Global Ad Distribution project that entailed creating targeted advertisement delivery maps and updating a master table that contains all of the delivery route data. The above workflow was then turned into two python script tools in order to automate the process and allow a wider user group. ### GIS TA @ Santa Clara University Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | Santa Clara, CA As a GIS TA, I was responsible for communicating GIS principles to a class of twenty students in a computer lab setting. I also held a three hour office hour session twice a week. ### Hospitality Services @ Adobe Lodge Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Santa Clara, CA Provided prompt and attentive service to faculty diners ### Farm Intern @ Oya Organics Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Hollister, CA Utilized Agroecological farming practices Sales at the weekly farm stand ## Education ### M.A. Geography-GIS California State University, Northridge Jan 2012 – Jan 2014 ### B.S.
