In order to do so, understanding the complex payments ecosystem and drafting those into user-friendly solutions was one of the critical aspects. Moreover, when it comes to designing for custom solutions, one of the key metrics to consider is the mutual benefit for both the third-party app/service and Mastercard. ### Interaction Design Lead @ Roche Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Greater Pittsburgh Area, San Francisco Bay Area Part of Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at CMU. Worked on the capstone project regarding medical oncology with Roche Diagnostic Information Systems (DIS) and taking the role as the Interaction Design Lead. Our capstone project with Roche DIS revolved around improving the experience of medical oncologists. Things to consider in the project were addressing workflow, decision support, collaboration and interactions with other clinicians, patients, and caregivers. As a person who led the interaction design/creative initiatives for the team, my responsibilities were producing rapid prototypes ranging from low to high fidelity, as well as working with the technical engineer on front-end development. Additionally, inspiring creativity in the team, creating-evaluating-iterating the designs and delivering visual assets that are both compelling and aesthetic. Through this capstone opportunity with Roche DIS, I gained knowledge in the health-tech industry and how those two can merge together to bring a positive impact in the patient-doctor relationship. ### UX/Visual Designer @ Samsung Electronics Jan 2014 – Jan 2016 | Seoul, Korea As part of the Visual Display Division, our team designed and developed new UI/UX concepts for Smart TVs and the future of display. We have established the archetype and design language for the 2017 Smart TV platform, in which I was primarily responsible for the voice interaction feature. Targeting in 2017, I was part of the task force unit working towards building a unified voice UX interaction model as well as the persona for cross-platform Samsung devices (i.e. TV, smartphone, wearables, home appliances, etc). The first consumer-facing result out from this unit was the launch of 'Bixby' (voice-powered intelligent assistant) with the Galaxy S8 smartphone model. Prior to that, I worked with my colleague to develop a new concept for voice recognition and OBE (initial setup) targeted at the 2016 Smart TV line-up. For the voice recognition feature, I was also responsible for the visual interaction design work, in which I collaborated with developers for best synchronization and accuracy. Furthermore, this voice recognition feature was also developed on Android/iOS platforms and is one of the pre-installed apps in Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7 series. I have also worked on establishing a unified iconography for the UI elements in the Smart TV platform for 2016 – enhancing the clarity of various features and functions, as well as heightening the visual consistency. Most noted, was the iconography set in the “Quick Settings” feature of the main UI. These icons not only make it more clear of all the different modes in the settings but also give visual pleasure as the user switches between the various modes. My role ranged from ideation of UX concepting to analysis of user data, quick visual mock-ups, then into the development/production phase of fine-tuning the visuals and rapid prototyping. ### UI/UX Visual Designer @ LevelUp Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | Boston, MA Designed customized screens as full app flows – 15 of the payment and rewards apps launched on iOS App Store/Google Play; prepared marketing collateral for LevelUp’s White Label app clients that range from small restaurants to fast food services and cafés; coordinated with developers and product managers for the apps to be released to merchants and users. ### Freelance Designer @ Jack Morton Worldwide Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Boston, MA Worked on various branding projects ranging from banner ads to promotion assets, both print and digital, associated with Glenn Britland and Eddy Torigoe (Associate Creative Directors) for clients such as Eaton Corp., Fidelity Investments, Subway, etc. ### Design Intern @ Jack Morton Worldwide Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Boston, MA Assisted various branding projects ranging from website layouts to social media promotions, associated with Glenn Britland (Associate Creative Director) and fellow designers for clients such as Eaton Corp., Fidelity Investments, Tribe, etc. Also led the design for our intern group’s winning pitch presentation for the 2013–14 Subway “Random Acts of Fitness for Kids” campaign. ### Brand Experience Lab Intern @ KAKAO Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 Designed promotional character sticker layout, Google Play, and iOS App Store screenshot design updates in 10 different languages, welcome kit/starter’s guide designs for the KakaoTalk app to overseas in particular. ### Global Team Design Intern @ HS Ad Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 Worked on Poster, Print, Outdoor advertising for LG Life Sciences, Electronics, and Household & Health Care, as well as pitch presentation preparations for automobile company Qoros Auto. ### Sergeant @ Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) Jan 2010 – Jan 2012 Served in the 1st Fighter Wing as assistant to the Commander and aide. ### C.I./B.I.
