Benefits was a spin-off experimentation project that came out of the research on the fears that new generations feel in starting their own business. Specifically, finding (and being able to afford) health benefits. Key role and responsibility As part of a two-person team, we experimented into Gen-Z and their needs and beliefs and fears in starting a business. In order to move quickly, we recruited Gen-Z students from Wisconsin and Harvard universities, coaching them in experimentation methodologies, to discover the needs and fears from their own generation. Researched the needs of small business owners with regards to health benefits, ultimately landing a partnership with a health provider that has now been monetized this financial year. ### Principal Product Designer—'FormFly' @ Intuit Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Working as the sole designer in a small ‘start-in’, helping small businesses file 1099 forms via a newly designed RESTful API. Key role and responsibility Gathering customer empathy with a group of ‘concierge’ customers to ensure delivery of a best-in-class API experience, designing ‘delightful’ documentation for API ingestion and paving the way for a new, thriving business within Intuit. ### Principal Product Designer—'Prospect' @ Intuit Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco Bay Area Worked as part of a two-person stealth discovery ‘start in’, rapidly experimenting into a zero-to-one network effect marketplace to help small businesses hire and self-employed find work. Coached by the founder of Intuit and the GM of Intuit’s Small Business Group to prove out new business, connecting small businesses and self-employed customers, resulting in strong behavioral evidence of demand. Key projects and responsibilities Rapid behavioral experimentation and ideal state creation to quickly realize an unsolved customer problem and durable business advantage that Intuit has to bring about an ownable solution in connecting two sides of the marketplace. ### Principal UX Architect @ Eventbrite Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco, California Lead Architect for the visual and interaction design system across the platform - providing research, validation of components and frameworks, and documentation to be used by product feature teams. Key role and responsibility Working in a small, cross-functional agile team, I was responsible for architecting the Eventbrite Design System from which all new experiences were created, defining Eventbrite from a user experience standpoint, delivering a suite of tools enabling internal teams to create consistent and predictable experiences for our event organizers and their customers. Sole design discipline on expanding the At Event experience for organizers and attendees, defining user experience for hardware portals and digital experience designer for the award-winning Eventbrite Organizer app on iOS & Android, enhancing the management features for organizers on-the-go. ### Senior UX Architect @ Eventbrite Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 Responsible for leading the information architecture and interaction design for complex experiences, creating tools to improve and streamline event organizers’ processes. Key role and responsibility Re-thinking native apps to better serve event organizers. Re-architecting existing apps and consolidating two experiences into one, I was responsible for creating the iOS experience Neon (now Organizer), providing event organizers the ability to sell and manage their events on-the-go whilst delivering a delightful and intuitive experience. ### Senior UX Architect @ Lanyrd (an Eventbrite company) Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Old Street, London Working as sole designer in a five-person startup, funded though Y-Combinator. Key projects and responsibilities Responsible for creating cohesion across a disparate product experience, initially designed by one of the founders of the company, I worked to create a design system and product experiences that catered to the needs of event creators and conference attendees, alike. By designing delightful experiences, for both responsive web and mobile native, we were able to help thousands of events run smoothly, ultimately resulting in the company being acquired by Eventbrite in 2013. ### Lead Designer @ BBC News Jan 2009 – Jan 2012 | Broadcast Centre, White City Working to create engaging and visually coherent, user focussed, interactive experiences, across multiple platforms. Key role and responsibility Design lead, seeing multiple, iterative launches, constantly responding to audience needs, and the needs of senior stakeholders. The award-winning BBC News redesign saw a dramatic re-think of the presentation of News, working as Design Lead, my responsibility was to produce a coherent and considered design for the top-level indexes, media pages, and advertising units integration for international. ### Lead Designer, BBC Weather @ BBC Jan 2007 – Jan 2009 | Television Centre, Shepherd's Bush Lead user experience designer, redesigning the BBC Weather online offering. Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team, produced innovative, interface solutions, solving the problems inherent in dealing with complex data. Validated proposed experiences through research, delivering a cohesive and consistent product with a detailed style guide. ### Senior Designer, CBBC / CBeebies @ BBC Jan 2003 – Jan 2007 | Television Centre, Shepherd's Bush Design lead for the content management team. Project managing two designers and working to senior stakeholders to launch high profile brand sites including Blue Peter and the Bafta nominated Bamzooki. Creating accessible, multi-platform products for use by a range of age groups. ### User Experience Designer @ BBC Jan 2001 – Jan 2003 | Television Centre, Shepherd's Bush Crafted an understanding of how this very specific audience interacts with services, and designed suitable solutions.
