As an early design leader at the firm, I helped to shape their design and product offerings and grow the team from 50 to 500 designers globally. I worked on projects regarding artificial intelligence, conversational AI, private equity, fintech, mortgage lending, crypto banking, healthcare, mining, supply chain and logistics, utilities operations, EV charging, and wind/solar operations. Along with my client facing work, I mentored and led leadership courses for colleagues. I designed courses and content for McKinsey consultants to learn about design, product management, and digital business building. ### Managing Director @ Mad*Pow Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | Oakland, California, United States I opened the Bay Area office for this east coast agency that specialized in healthcare design. I hired and managed a local design team and led local client engagements from proposal through delivery. ### Director of Design @ Practice Fusion Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | San Francisco, California, United States I successfully grew PF’s design team from three to 26 designers over the course of 18 months. The team included UX, visual design, research, UX prototyping, and video. We were responsible for all product design, branding, and marketing. Our products included the core electronic health records platform, patient facing health record, analytics tools, and the Practice Fusion/Patient Fusion websites. During my tenure we rebranded the company, redesigned the core EHR application in responsive HTML leveraging a new component driven design system. Along with product design responsibilities, I led hiring, employee development, and design operations for the team. ### User Experience Architect @ Zendesk Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | San Francisco, California, United States I designed and managed the development of new customer registration, onboarding, and product engagement experiences to improve trial conversions and enhance overall product usage for new customers. I provided strategic design direction, developed wireframes for products, and wrote content (as needed) for the entire portfolio of internal campaign tools. I worked with multiple development teams to implement new designs across the core technology stack. For the Digital Team, I provided design guidance for email, social media, and all campaign websites. Products included Dashboard, barackobama.com, gottaregister.com, gottavote.com, the Call Tool, and the legal protection tool. My designs helped to refine the new sequential donation framework (which has become the gold standard for all political donations, and is used by ActBlue). One of my design suggestions resulted in an ~11% increase in online donations from early August to election day. ### Senior Business Analyst (Design Lead) @ Barclays Global Investors Jan 2008 – Jan 2009 | San Francisco, California, United States While at Cooper (see below), I was part of a team that designed a new portfolio management and trading system for BGI. I was hired to continue the design and product efforts for this new platform. As a hybrid product manager and design lead, I wrote functional requirements, use cases, developed new wireframes and functionality, and collaborated with a global team of developers, to roll out new components for the system as we went from Beta to the 1.0 launch. This system was recognized internally as the best new software product developed at BGI. Our advanced UI framework and design system was also leveraged by other internal teams to develop new internal applications. ### Design Consultant @ Cooper Jan 2004 – Jan 2007 I was a “Synthesizer," paired with a “Generative” design partner, and together we worked on large-scale design projects for companies in a variety of sectors. I designed and documented software, services, and hardware products for the web, desktop, and early mobile platforms. I consulted to companies in healthcare, financial services, online advertising, HR and recruiting, non-profits, travel, and insurance. ### Lead Designer and Product Manager @ Greenline systems Jan 2003 – Jan 2004 Greenline was an early-stage startup, providing risk analysis for shipping. The platform identified irregularities and potential threats in containers as they moved across the globe. I played many roles in launching the beta release of the product and then the 1.0 release of the GreenLine Risk Management application. I managed the early product and design efforts and then acted as the release and issues manager for three “Operation Safe Commerce” pilots for the Department of Homeland Security. We met all key deadlines and deliverables and secured key DHS contracts as a result of our performance in the pilots. ## Education ### BFA in Theater Design and Technology University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/scoutaddis --- Source: https://flows.cv/davidaddis JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/davidaddis/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-25
