# David Duffy > Staff Software Engineer at REI Location: Seattle, Washington, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/davidduffy After college, my wife and I moved to Wyoming to snowboard. When we returned to Seattle a few years later, I felt like I might have been a step behind from a career perspective. That feeling of "always catching up" has really helped me distinguish myself. To catch up, I had to focus and produce. By that, I mean more than just throwing on headphones at work. I mean using my focus like a magnifying glass, bringing every bit of energy I have to bear against a target or a goal for days, weeks, or months, until it bends to my will. Today, I am a frontend developer. My path here led me through myriad disciplines: customer service, web design, and product management. Working with that many different types of people and disciplines has put me in a position to be a dynamic contributor at the frontend position. Exposure to so many areas of the product lifecycle helps me hold conversations, create empathy, and build the bridges required to create great results. Although I have found success in my work life, at my core I am the same person that moved to Wyoming after college. Some of my deepest-held values spring from the sports and activities that I love. I spend a great deal of time outdoors, and I am passionate about the big issues related to preserving the natural world. I would ultimately like to work in a capacity that contributes to those causes. ## Work Experience ### Staff Software Engineer @ REI Jan 2022 – Present | Kent, Washington, United States ### Senior Software Engineer @ REI Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 | Seattle, Washington, United States ### Frontend Developer @ REI Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Kent, Wa ### Frontend Developer @ CrystalCommerce Jan 2016 – Jan 2019 | Mountlake Terrace At CrystalCommerce, I work with designers and product managers to turn ideas into reality on our two living platforms: legacy, and our next generation admin.
