# David Jackson > Senior SWE, GenAI @ Capital One Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/davidjackson I am a senior full stack software engineer with a focus on fintech products and AI working at Capital One. I enjoy building financial products from the ground up, and have built successful companies from scratch all the way to profitability. My AI experience extends beyond the financial world into information retrieval, storage, LLMs, agents and more. This also includes a number of patents on various inventions. I enjoy applying new concepts and inventions both within AI and outside to financial products. I've worked full time in startups for 8+ years and enjoy being challenged by new and interesting problems. I've had the pleasure of being a part of many early stage startups including being the first engineer at multiple Y Combinator startups as well other profitable early stage startups, allowing me to help early stage companies get from founding to exit. I particularly enjoy working on complex architecture design and deployment for novel financial applications. Feel free to reach out if you're working on something interesting or want to chat about AI or finance in general. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer, Generative AI @ Capital One Jan 2023 – Present | California, United States I specialize in Generative AI research and development. My specialties include agentic flows, RAG, LLM integrations, embedding models and in general complex AI architectures and workflows. See https://www.capitalone.com/tech/machine-learning/ for more information on AI/ML at Capital One. If we've worked together in the past and you'd like a referral to Capital One, feel free to reach out. ### Software Engineer @ Flex Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 Flex splits up your rent into smaller, stress free payments throughout the month. Studies show that important expenses that fall on inconvenient dates are the number one cause of late fees, overdrafts and people falling into debt. ### Software Engineer @ Pei Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 Pei (Acquihired by Flex in January 2022) brought cashback to customers all across the world. As a fullstack engineer, I helped build and maintain Pei's mobile and React web app and browser plugin. My responsibilities included building components in a scalable and efficient way in order to iterate rapidly and improve Pei's cashback offerings. ### Software Engineer @ Paymobil Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco Bay Area Built the backend infrastructure for Paymobil (Y Combinator w2020 batch) as a contractor. Paymobil is Venmo for stablecoins. Advised on Ethereum smart contract architecture and technical decisions. Reduced transaction costs by 10x since inception and build an auto-scalable way to distribute and monitor a large number of Ethereum transactions at once to create a reliable payments network. ### Software Engineer @ Symplex Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 Full stack software engineer at the startup Symplex (Y Combinator s2019 batch). Symplex reduced friction of diagnosis and patient check-in using AI + mobile & web apps for automatic triage. Launched triage mobile app, web portal, led infrastructure decisions for backend infrastructure, and integrated with two EHR APIs. ### Founder at CallStop @ CallStop Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco Bay Area Built a better way to manage calls more efficiently and block 100% of spam calls using whitelisting. Acquired paying subscribers and distributed the app. ### Researcher @ Stanford University Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Stanford University Created an albedo flux simulation for low earth orbit satellites and implemented algorithms for extended Kalman filters in the Stanford Space Rendezvous Lab (SLAB). Work involved numerical simulations, rotational mathematics and light propagation modeling. ### Researcher @ Stanford Intelligent Systems Laboratory Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 Created a Julia implementation to solve Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes (POMDPs). This algorithm helps machines make decisions under uncertainty. ### Researcher @ Duke University Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 Used a hyperspectral camera to model nanoparticle uptake and maintained mesocosms for nanoparticle dosing (Wiesner Research Group). Experimented to determine the effectiveness of using computerized libraries to automate the process of identifying nanoparticles. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering Stanford University Jan 2013 – Jan 2017 ### Durham Academy High School Jan 2009 – Jan 2013 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/deejax --- Source: https://flows.cv/davidjackson JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/davidjackson/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-23
