# David Kutas > designing & building things Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/davidkutas Shaping the shape of AI at Reforge. Previously founding design engineer at Cartesia, and reinvented video editing at Adobe Research. I obtained MS & PhD degrees in the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Software Engineering from the University of California Irvine. During the PhD program I worked on research publications revolving around my invention of the Fluid Zoomable User Interface. I also served as a teaching assistant throughout my studies at UCI. I helped undergraduate and graduate students in Software Design, Information Visualization, Interactive Technology Studio, Web Programming. I received excellent instructor evaluations. Front-end development (mostly using React, vanilla JS and related toolchain), and empirical evaluation skills (mixed methods). I love entering the unknown, construct new ideas from thin air, and then bring them to life through code. ## Work Experience ### Senior Design Engineer @ Reforge Jan 2025 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area Responsible for complete UI/UX overhaul of the Insights product - still working on it. Recently started working on https://build.reforge.com as well. ### Founding Design Engineer @ Cartesia Jan 2025 – Jan 2025 | San Francisco, California, United States Working on cutting edge voice AI.
