# David Ziegler > Staff Software Engineer at Clear Street Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/davidziegler Distributed systems engineer focused on high-throughput fintech infrastructure. Currently on a planned sabbatical. Joining Ripple in March 2026. At Clear Street, I led the engineering team responsible for BK (the firm’s real-time ledger). When I joined, BK was pre-launch and struggling to handle the firm's 20K trades/day. After a successful migration and launch, I took over as team lead to scale the platform from its first production trades to: ● 8M+ trades/day ● 100K transactions/sec ● 99.92% uptime My work centered on solving the production bottlenecks and consistency challenges of evolving a startup sketch into a high-volume institutional grade transaction engine. Prior to my years at Bloomberg and Goldman Sachs, I worked at early-stage startups as a lead full-stack engineer and product partner, architecting systems from initial launch through paying customers. Open to selective advisory with early-stage teams. ## Work Experience ### Staff Software Engineer @ Clear Street Jan 2021 – Jan 2025 | New York, New York, United States ● Promoted from Senior to Staff Engineer to lead the Clearing & Settlement Platform team, with direct reports, owning architecture and delivery of real-time trade capture, ledger processing, and production-grade testing infrastructure on AWS (Golang, Python, Kafka, Postgres). ● Re-architected and replaced the legacy transaction processing engine with a horizontally scalable distributed system, increasing capacity to 100,000+ transactions per second and enabling business growth from 20K trades/day to 8+ million trades/day. ● Designed and implemented a production-parity data seeding and stress-testing framework, enabling deterministic load simulation and safe scaling of trading volume; contributed to achieving 99.2% platform uptime and materially improving system resiliency. ### Senior Software Engineer @ Bloomberg LP Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | New York, New York, United States Equity Funds ● Architected and implemented the primary ETL workflow for fund reference data using Python, Kafka, and Solr.
