I then set out to plan, manage, and code those designs into reality, using the best technologies for the job. Our projects ranged from fun, web-based party invitations to a full-blown flagship site redesign, with a custom CMS I played a key role in designing, project-managing, and developing. My day-to-day responsibilities include UX design with tools like Sketch, Principle, Framer, and Zeplin, as well as full-stack web development in frameworks like Symfony, Vue, and React. I also project-managed local and international developers and designers, while mentoring student interns. In our small but versatile team, I often played many roles, like contributing illustrations and photography to print projects. The course delved into the myriad verbal and visual communication strategies designers and artists of all disciplines can leverage to help encourage social justice in our society. We explored historical and contemporary examples of art and activism through diverse media and writing assignments. Students then put the theories we examined into practice, through a partnership with Equal Means Equal, a nonprofit organization fighting to get the Equal Rights Amendment passed.
