# Delphine Huang > CalMHSA Medical Director of Design and Innovation | ex-IDEO Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/delphine I am currently the Medical Director at CalMHSA of Innovation and Design Transformation. CalMHSA is a Joint Powers of Authority (JPA) formed by counties to work on collaborative, multi-county projects that improve behavioral/mental health care for all Californians. My role is focused on bringing a lens of design and user experience to our strategic initiatives and innovations with dedication to addressing equity to better meet the needs of our most vulnerable populations. Previously, I was Medical Director at IDEO. I worked closely with the design teams and clients to bring meaningful, impactful and innovative ideas to life. My projects spanned from health products, medical devices, digital health, healthcare services, systems, pharmaceutical, payers, and strategy design. I was a Stanford Biodesign Fellow. Through this program, I learned how to apply design-thinking principles to identify unmet healthcare needs, and integrate value-driven innovations and cost-effective decision-making into impactful solutions for patients and the healthcare ecosystem. I am also an advisor for QB3/Rosenman Institute’s start-ups and D-rev. I went to Brown University and majored in Human Biology with a focus on disparities research. I worked as an HIV counselor prior to going to UCSF's Joint Medical Program for medical school. I did bench research on pulmonary microbiome During medical school, I took a year off to work at a start up, AgileMD as the Medical Design Consultant. I finished my residency at UCSF/SFGH Emergency Medicine and continue to practice at UCSF and Kaiser as an emergency medicine physician. I also have a strong interest in health disparities research, EMS research, implementation science projects focused on care coordination and ED discharges. I was also the PEM Pearls Editor for a blog, ALiEM. I work on pediatric emergency medicine topics and have focused my time on learning web design/video/visual design software.
