# Devashri Nagarkar > Software Engineer @ Augment Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/devashri ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Augment Jan 2025 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area ### Software Engineer @ Redfin Jan 2019 – Jan 2025 | San Francisco Bay Area I work as full stack developer on Redfin's search experience, helping a user learn everything they could ever want to know about a home. It's our website's most highly trafficked page so I have gotten experience with backend and front end performance, user focused design, and extensive API and data flow services. I love that what I do directly affects users and that I make the home buying process easier, fairer, and more transparent through my work. I've worked across the stack. I was the lead engineer on our complete revamp of our UI design library leading to 14% performance improvements and significant increase in user engagement and downstream core metrics. I write clean, secure, and performant APIs for my team, our Apps teams, and other internal users of the data we own. I create data services with low latency and high consistency using Kafka, AWS, and Postgres databases, specifically used to poopulate our home data across our website with the most up-to-date information. My favorite feature projects have been re-vamping our schools section by working around spotty data to give users a full picture of their school options, adding recommendations to the details page so no one misses a home that may be right for them, and integrating flood data onto our website and maps to help raise transparency about homes especially as climate change affects home-buying decisions. ### Lead Computer Science Engineering Learning Assistant @ University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | Urbana-Champaign, Illinois Area I lead an 8 week long course acclimating freshman to engineering at Illinois with a focus on the opportunities Illinois and the CS department can provide. I am a resource for the students and a mentor they can always turn to for professional, academic, and personal help. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Microsoft Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Seattle Washington I built a fully functionally prototype that integrates social media into Mixed Reality. I pulled data from Facebook and LinkedIn APIs to populate a database and queried it to populated a UI that I built in Unity for the purpose of bringing people together in VR and AR and providing context to these social interactions. ### Intern @ 4Degrees Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Greater Chicago Area I built an article classifier for Medium blog posts that identifies what topic the article is about. All the user has to do is copy and paste in the url and it outputs the topic and the confidence level of the categorization. The business goal is to identify articles a certain person would like based on a variety of interests. The model currently uses a Naive Bayes classifier and I'm now working on making it more complex to include the article's level of professionalism, indicators of level of interest as well as other factors that make it a good recommendation. 4Degrees is a startup that is a part of Techstars in Chicago that aims democratize the networking process. I've had such a wonderful experience learning from all the startups in the accelerator as well as hearing amazing advice from startup veterans. ### Explorer Intern @ Microsoft Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Redmond, Washington I worked with two other interns to create an application that integrates map locations with permanent and private sharing of photos. We brainstormed, built basic prototypes, and conducted user research before coming up with our app idea. Only after that entire process, keeping our end goal in mind, did we begin to code in C# and XAML while using JSON files. The creative process kept me grounded in developing a product that is actually needed, useful, and parallel with Microsoft's goals. In the end I had a successful presentation with a working prototype and clear and actionable next steps. In the process I got to experience the amazing work the organization is doing in cultivating culture. ### Consultant @ OTCR Consulting Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Urbana-Champaign, Illinois Area As a member of OTCR, I work with 4-5 other consultants to advise a company on topics such as launch strategy, revenue framework, market sizing and target strategy. I also work on my technical skills through various workshops like advanced excel, financial modeling, and slide creation. In the past I have worked with a Chicago based startup in the Educational Technology field. ### Engineering Shadow @ Tock Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Greater Chicago Area ### Application Development Intern @ Northwestern Mutual Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 I gained experience working in an Scaled Agile Framework by being a part of a scrum team that practiced SAFe in the Enterprise Solutions and Support team. I participated in Scrum ceremonies such as retros, daily stand-ups, and sprint planning. My job as part of the team was to make changes to XML backed PDF forms and send them onto testing before they went into production. My internship personal project was to develop a website for Northwestern Mutual to host adaptive forms. As an intern, I was part of a case study group that researched fintech disrupters and trends in venture capitalism. We came up with a startup idea and I was chosen to present our findings and proposal to the Vice Presidents and Executive Officers of Northwestern Mutual. ### Research Intern @ Argonne National Laboratory Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Argonne Illinois I wrote a Python test suite that implemented the Numpy library for the complete Automatic Differentiation tool written in Python. I researched complex mathematical functions that were difficult or impossible to differentiate by hand. In the end I had 39 different functions including optimization problems, machine learning algorithms, and other math based functions. After the final tool is completed, my platform will be used to test its effectiveness. ### Executive Assistant @ Kids Wealth International Club Jan 2011 – Jan 2014 I organized camps, wrote newsletters that were sent out monthly to the client list, edited the booklet the students learn from, and kept track of appointments and business cards for the CEO. I also served as an assistant during the camps in which I set up the classroom, assisted the teacher, taught a portion of the class to the kids, and then tore down the classroom at the end. I developed organization skills, customer service and basic applications on Infusionsoft (a program that schedules out a system of emails). ### Far Horizons Lab Intern @ Adler Planetarium Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Chicago, Illinois I worked with a group of five other high school students to design a project correlating balloon volume and latex expansion with factors such as temperature, pressure, and altitude. We sent our payload into the stratosphere over 100,000 feet into the air in a high altitude balloon. To gather this information I learned to program Arduinos and tracking devices. ## Education ### Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/devashrinagarkar --- Source: https://flows.cv/devashri JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/devashri/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-10
