# Di Wen > Staff Software Engineer at LinkedIn Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/diwen Passionate expertise who can build Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligent system from scratch, IEEE SPS best paper award winner, and senior AI product deliverer.  Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning expertise - Face Recognition and Anti-spoof (IEEE SPS Best Paper Award 2020, Black Sesame Tech Face ID product inventor.) - Image/Video Classification, Recommendation and Vision-and-Language Modeling (LinkedIn) - Industrial OCR algorithm developer (Microsoft, Nuance, Siemens) - CNN based AI product experience on embedded platform (Qualcomm, TX2)  Computer Vision expertise with invention - Object detection and tracking in video surveillance (Key inventor of the video surveillance face recognition system TH-IDvs, US patent) - 3D reconstruction, point cloud registration (3D morphable face model, CT analysis)  Medical Image Analysis researcher with invention - Cardiac Disease Diagnosis on 2D X-ray, CT and 3D IVOCT (US patent) ## Work Experience ### Staff Software Engineer @ LinkedIn Jan 2019 – Present As a Computer Vision and Deep Learning tech lead, direct LinkedIn multimedia and multimodal R&D projects and drive foundational outcomes into products. ### Principal Scientist @ Black Sesame Technologies Inc Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | Santa Clara, Carlifornia Area I am leading a team in BST for research and development of a series of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision applications in embedded system. My role includes: i) hardware and system design, ii) algorithm design and training, iii) data collection and annotation, iv) system demo and deployment. ### Researcher @ Case Western Reserve University Jan 2014 – Jan 2017 | Cleveland/Akron, Ohio Area I invented an image processing software, “CorCalDx”, which dramatically improves diagnose of coronary artery disease using low-cost, low-radiation chest X-ray. The huge market value of this technique (over 20M exams per year) has attracted numerous funds from GE Healthcare and Case-Coulter Translational Research Partnership (CCTRP). I have published 4 papers and filed an international patent on this project. ### Postdoc research fellow @ Michigan State University Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | East Lansing, US In MSU, I work in the Biometric Research Group directed by Dr. Anil. K Jain.  I worked on unconstrained face recognition and face liveness detection in MSU.  After 6 months, I proposed a real-time spoof detection algorithm which: (i) outperforms most state-of-the-art methods on public databases; (ii) has been implemented in a real-time face spoof detection demo: ### Assistant professor @ Tsinghua University Jan 2007 – Jan 2014 | Beijing, China Face recognition; Face gender, age and race recognition; Character recognition; Computer vision; Object(pedestrian/vehicle) detection and tracking; Content based multimedia retrieval; Lecturing two courses on C/C++ programming language ### Intern @ Microsoft Research Asia Jan 2000 – Jan 2000 During my internship in MSRA, I worked in the Visual Computing group on the problem of low-bitrate video coding for mobile devices. I developed a video processing algorithm to output bi-level (black and white) videos with very low bit rate and friendly quality. I also developed a color quantization algorithm to output lower bit rate color videos. ## Education ### Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Tsinghua University ### Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Zhejiang University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/dickywen - Portfolio: https://sites.google.com/site/dickywen/ - Portfolio: http://www.ee.tsinghua.edu.cn/publish/eeen/3784/2010/20101219120341471816982/20101219120341471816982_.html --- Source: https://flows.cv/diwen JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/diwen/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-12
