The group has focused on building low-tech laboratories and low cost equipment, making it easier for outsiders to explore the life-sciences.
Their work has been awarded prizes and recognition in both the arts and the science contexts.

Competed for IGEM2010 (International Genetic Engineered Machine) at MIT as the only Designers amongst the crowd of Engineers and biologists. 

Decided to question the idea that synthetic biology or biology for that matter could be done only with high-end scientific equipment. Spent the summer constructed our very own lab instruments out of cheap, readily available material. Realizing the barriers for doing science need not be so high, all you need to do is problem solve as a designer.
