I'm a passionate Software Engineer with a thirst for learning and building intuitive, reliable, scalable products. I've been a contributor and leader in Stripe's Banking-as-a-Service org for over 5 years now.
In my spare time, I delve in to exercise, side projects, reading, films, family, friends, hiking, and travel.
In Nov 2023, I transitioned to Stripe Capital, which provides businesses with access to financing.
For over 4 years before that, I worked on Stripe Issuing, which provides an API and Dashboard for instantly creating virtual and physical cards. These cards allow one to control expenses, reduce operational burden, and expand new lines of business. Issuing resides within the core Stripe ecosystem as another product that one can add on to their Stripe account.
In my time on Issuing, I helped launch the product from private beta to public general availability in the US and EU. I've also dedicated myself to essential engineering tasks, such as vigilant on-call rotations and incident resolutions, and mentoring new team members.
These projects have been achieved using the following tools in order of importance:
•
Ruby (with Sorbet type checker), MongoDB, Kafka-like async messaging system
•
JavaScript (with Flow type checker) + React
•
Scala and Go as necessary
In addition, I've owned large projects such as:
Managed intern for 4 months:
•
Led to successful impact project and return offer
Worked with sales and internal infrastructure teams to automate 95% of the billing and revshare for our users:
•
Coordinated with numerous stakeholders
•
Created flow and integrated with internal billing systems
•
Enabled the scalability of our continued growth as a business
Helped a new sub-team design and implement our first Disputes product as an Issuer, which led to a 100% increase in Dispute wins and saved our teams hundreds of hours with backend processing
•
Refactored internal data models, API, and Dashboard to change how we represent Dispute financials
•
Designed and shipped Dashboard and API
•
Integrated against Visa's Disputes API to submit disputes at scale
•
Abstracted away unnecessary complexity for users to send updates in webhooks and Dashboard
Imagine a picturesque, Italian town with artisanal, historic products. In my time at Gustiamo, I sought to bring that experience directly to the US as a business partner and technical leader focused on our B2B sales. Scaling Gustiamo from 5 to 10 people in my time there meant that I always had to wear many hats from CTO and COO to warehouse staff and customer deliveries. Below provides more of a sample of these varied hats:
•
Engineered inventory and customer data analytics/visualizations application
•
Built a Ruby on Rails web application hosted on Heroku
•
Ingested data from accounting software to feed PostgreSQL database
•
Took responsibility for Wholesale Operations and Logistics after 3 months
•
Built web app from scratch to better manage inventory and customer sales
•
Improved Wholesale program of Italy’s Best Foods via managing and growing accounts with chefs,
restaurant and store managers
•
Managed expansion into new geographic markets(i.e., Philadelphia, Boston), clients, and partners in the
US
•
Responsible for 100% increase in Wholesale Revenues in 2015 over 2013
•
Planned and managed entire supply chain, coordinating shipments from producers in Italy to Gustiamo, and from Gustiamo to clients.
•
Created systems and analyses which:
•
With Wholesale Revenues increasing sharply, maintained optimal levels of inventory, allowing for large
growth in volumes
•
Increased shipments’ efficiency, lowering shipping costs as % of COGS by 15%
•
Participated in developing overall business strategy, including producer selection, product buying, and business development as a member of the senior leadership team
•
Helped select and introduce 5 new product lines
•
Overall Revenues and Profitability increased to levels never before seen in 15 years of business in my 3 years at Gustiamo
