Insulation R&D. ### Senior Bioprocessing Engineer @ Air Protein Jan 2022 – Jan 2024 | San Leandro, California, United States Directly reporting to the Chief Manufacturing Officer, I led all aspects of Pilot-Scale downstream process engineering and assisted with fermentation. I was integral in the execution of DSP processing of the first-of-its-kind H2 gas fermented broth via an Electrolyzer and a SIL-2 (Safety Integrity Level) system along with engineering of Air Protein’s newly constructed pilot plant with a focus on tech transfer to eventual full-scale manufacturing and its associated engineering. ● Led DSP production of the first gas fermented protein biomass of its kind using H2, O2, and CO2 gasses as feedstock. ● Authored SOPs,P&IDs and led safety design and training of operators for this first-of-a-kind plant/facility and Electrolyzer setup. ● In the Pilot Plant Engineering team, I initiated and led project cost analyses, setup MSA’s, engaged in resource management and redesigning of the Pilot-scale Downstream equipment skids to meet more robust and ever changing product development and engineering goals. ● Led MOC work on skid piping systems, utilities, pumps, actuators and SCADA systems. Executed IQ/OQ/PQ and PLC/HMI setup during commissioning of brand new first of its kind $18MM Pilot facility. ● Led two successful sterile fermentation DSP broth processing campaigns while directing a multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams including but not limited to operations, maintenance, engineering and contractors. ● Leveraged prior ASME/API/NFPA experience with hazardous high-pressure ethylene gas to lead the Fit-For-Service analysis of a custom gas fermenter vessel and the ordering of a new bioreactor. ● Meticulously re-evaluated MOC related Process Safety and LOPA recalculation of turnover package design deficiencies for a safer process. ● Led CapEx analysis and CapEx acquisition during commissioning phase. ### Lead Development Engineer - Downstream @ Corbion Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 | South San Francisco, California Reporting to the Director of Pilot Manufacturing, I led downstream process development work in conjunction with fermentation and GMP work at Corbion’s newly acquired Algae Ingredients business working on sustainable product development and manufacturing on the pilot scale and tech transfer to full-scale for High Volume Manufacturing (HVM). ● Led recommissioning of all Downstream production equipment at the Pilot Plant facility under GMP criteria. ● Instrumental in increasing full-scale DSP profit generation by $7MM/yr by increasing DSP output from 2.0 Metric Ton/hr to 3.5 Metric Ton/hr. ● Managed and directed downstream processing activities and successfully executed new and experimental projects from ideation to full-scale production viability at our South American production facility. Projects included Protein, DHA/Omega-3 development, and other food-grade oils derived from proprietary microalgae technologies ● Led product quality control via monitoring particle size, oxidation stability, color, rheology, etc to see if we met CTQ metrics. ● Successfully scaled-up pilot-scale fermentation prototypes and downstream processes to optimize IP compliant algae broths and biomass production. ● Unit-ops and equipment utilized for protein generation, tech transfers and urgent customer requests were; Drum Dryers, Evaporators, Presses, Centrifuges, TFF/Dynamic Cross Flow Filtration skids, Liquid Suspension skids, Refining, Bleaching and Deodorizer skids (RBD). ### Process Development Scientist II (Manufacturing/R&D Cleaning Innovation) @ The Clorox Company Jan 2016 – Jan 2019 | Pleasanton, CA Led cross-functional teams of PMs, scientists, engineers and ISC for process development work at Clorox R&D; a $800MM High Volume Manufacturing business.
