•2nd Year App Dev Intern [Virtual due to COVID-19]
Designed and developed an API for Nationwide’s Real Estate Investment (REI) website which served as a proof of concept that the entire REI website could be rewritten to utilize APIs instead of previous database connections. This overall would benefit the business as it would allow the website to become up to date with current technology and allow Nationwide’s information to become more available to third parties. Additionally, I was tasked with adding a new feature to another Nationwide application, PMA-Derecho. This new featured called for the addition of a new page where the business user could activate and de-activate the status of certain benchmarks related to the business. This project was the largest one I had received this year as it called for me to developed both the front and back end of the new feature.
Participated in Nationwide’s intern program by supporting Digital Transformation and Enterprise Applications through projects that were focused on Cloud Migration, Java development, ETL, and Test Automation. The team I was on practiced AGILE as well as DevOps, which I learned firsthand. My most meaningful project was the Cloud Migration Project which entailed developing in fast, and intense sprint where my team and I not only worked, but also learned to migrate our application to AWS cloud.
Competed in Nationwide’s Enterprise-wide Hackathon where my team & I created a networking app that allowed interns, as well as new employees, to begin to create their network within the company by matching with potential mentors and peers based on technical or business interests. Our application placed second in our bracket as well as won the award for “Best Pitch.”
