• Build full-stack solutions using React and GraphQL, and updating backend routes, business logic and schema in Node and Google protocol buffer files including high profile, customer-facing features like the new look and feel of Medium and threaded replies.
• Lead company-wide accessibility initiative, evangelizing best practices and collaborating with design, product and engineering to make web surfaces accessible.
• Oversee team projects such as migrating the user settings page to React and pinned posts for creator profiles, including writing tech specs, determining schema structure, identifying tradeoffs and mentoring junior engineers.
• Developed theming and reusable React components for customizing the look and feel of Medium-owned publication home pages – when product focus shifted the structure was used by other teams as a guide for creating customizable, blog-like user profiles.
• Leverage TypeScript, Jest and React Testing Library to provide code safety and write meaningful tests that check all variables.
• Onboard newly hired engineers by teaching biweekly class on Medium’s design system and CSS in JS framework (Fela.js) and being an onboarding buddy.
