My team works with the municipality of Princeton, NJ for their Bloomberg Mayors Challenge Project 2018 to develop a closed-loop food system to address the issue of food waste. We develop techniques based in behavioral science to help residents sort their waste properly. For example, we test different ways to communicate with residents and correct behavior through emails and social media, as well as how to encourage non-voluntary citizens to participate for environmental and economic reasons.
