Redmond
Rotated between roles of PM, QA, and Dev in Microsoft’s Internet of Things Experiences team. Using IoT’s Windows SDK for Intel’s Galileo board, designed and built a delivery robot that could bring deliveries directly to your location. Users call the robot using a web application. This updates the Azure database and sends a list of instructions to the Galileo board that controls the robot, directing it to the user’s room.
As Developer: Implemented a path-finding algorithm that found the shortest path from the robot’s current location to its next delivery, translating that path into a set of JSON instructions and having the robot execute each instruction in order. Made Universal Windows app to directly control robot. Worked on web app UI, editing CSS. Resolved robot’s wheel synchronization problems and created method for calibrating the robot to consistently follow instructions.
As Program Manager: Brainstormed, chose, and designed project idea. Determined personas, user stories, deliverables, and tasks. Lead daily scrum meetings. Determined sprint cycle and organized and maintained Kanban board. Presented idea to managers, created video presentations of our progress for IoT leadership.
As Quality Assurance: Created master testing program to run all unit tests. Documented all use cases for robot and where, in each use case, something could go wrong. Tested project end to end, editing documentation. Created document outlining what telemetry data could be collected and used to improve the fridge. Worked with Legal team to determine privacy strategy.
Throughout the internship: Designed and ran multiple demos for managers, IoT leadership, and company at large.
