# Eric B. > Software Engineer at Box Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ericb I am a graduate of UC Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I worked at Clumio for 2.5 years where I architected & implemented multiple micro-services from scratch and enjoyed working with people in a small, tight-knit group. I am looking to make the world a better place. I love teaching and have extensive teaching experience. During my free time, I enjoy playing tennis and consuming Korean media & music. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Box Jan 2023 – Present ### Software Engineer @ Observe, Inc. Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 ### Software Engineer @ Dropbox Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 ### Software Engineer @ Clumio Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | Santa Clara, CA As one of the first 15 engineers at Clumio, I was initially given the critical challenge of designing and implementing a core component. Throughout my 2.5 years at Clumio, I architected and implemented more micro-services (all in Go Lang), while maintaining existing ones. For each micro-service, I worked on things from the database layer (which had to be efficient to reduce costs), to the main core logic (which had to be fault-tolerant & scaleable), to the testing and maintainability aspects. Additionally, I mentored a summer intern and onboarded several full-time engineers. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Pure Storage Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Mountain View, CA Completed full-stack project implementing a new UI feature for the FlashBlade which allowed users to visualize filesystem-level metrics of an array in both CLI & GUI form Coded in everything from C++ (back-end) to Java & Python (middleware and CLI) to JavaScript (GUI), working across multiple teams in different layers ### CS 61A Teaching Assistant @ UC Berkeley Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 I taught a discussion section, ran a lab section, and held office hours for CS 61A. I explained concepts, led students through practice problems, and helped students debug coding assignments. Additionally, over the summer, I helped manage and organize the lab assistants for the whole class. ### Private Tutor @ Self-employed private tutor Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Falls Church, VA I was the private tutor for a rising freshman at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology who wanted to learn the Introduction to Computer Science over the summer and pass the placement test (which she did). I taught the year-long advanced high school class in 3 months over the summer by tutoring my student every weekday. I also assigned labs as homework once I was confident we had covered the material sufficiently in person. My student learned not only to code in Java, but also broad computer science ideas such as abstraction, inheritance and readability. It was incredibly rewarding to work with a student personally and be able to teach what I learned. ### Teacher’s Assistant and Extracurricular Teacher @ Sunshine Academy Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Herndon, VA During the day, I assisted core class teachers by making copies, grading papers, and managing the students. In the afternoon, I taught an after-school class that was an Introduction to Computer Science (taught in Java). I enjoyed planning my own curriculum to teach the students the basics of coding while establishing strong conceptual foundations as well. I also managed the class by having the students who were more ahead help the students who were falling behind. This was particularly useful because my class had students of all ages, ranging from rising 5th graders to rising 9th graders. ### Sales Associate @ Complete Entertainment Exchange Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 | Berkeley, CA I handled both sales and buying in used electronics including hardware (phones, laptops, cameras) and software (games, DVDs). I walked the floor maximizing item display and assisted customers with any questions they had. Many customers seeking to buy a new phone, for example, asked about the differences in various carriers and networks and I explained which are CDMA and GSM and what that means for customers. I also bought in items that customers sold to us and either booked them in for testing (most hardware) or displayed them directly after. It was both a fun and eye-opening experience to interact and communicate with all types of people that I've never directly interacted much with before. I even once made over $1000 in cash sales one day! ## Education ### Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science University of California, Berkeley ### High School Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/ericbo --- Source: https://flows.cv/ericb JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/ericb/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
