# Esther Shimanovich > Software Engineer at Google Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/esthershimanovich ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Google Jan 2020 – Present * Migrated hardware fixes and applications from neverware codebase into ChromeOS codebase * Migrated hardware collecting service from Python to rust * Migrated and reworked wifi, graphics, bluetooth, audio and power fixes from Neverware's CloudReady into ChromeOS Flex * sunsetted adobe flash and implemented communication of the change to the user * Migrated the installation UI into the ChromeOS browser OOBE (Out-of-Box Experience) repo- JavaScript/HTML/CSS/C++ * Added SBAT functionality to ChromeOS Flex to enable secure boot * Ran the Chromeos Flex Gardening Rotation, and trained a team of about 8 people on how to navigate tooling, route issues and resolve issues for automated testing * Created internal tool that analyzed hardware attributes, and found patterns across different bugs - Javascript, Typescript * Upstreamed fixes into the kernel * Fixed a variety of hardware bugs, including wifi, power, graphics, inputs, etc. - C, C++, linux kernel ### Junior Software Developer @ Neverware Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 * Wrote up and documented a keyboard emulator script that made it easier to deploy OS images to client machines Arduino, C++ * Added a page to access historical releases on internal website- Ruby on Rails, HTML, JavaScript * Fixed HW OS bugs, fixing problematic audio, wifi, trackpad, ethernet and webcam. Also added cellular as a feature, C++, Gentoo, Linux Kernel * Fixed various bugs in user interface and also within internal tooling Redis, S3, jenkins ### Software Engineer Level II @ Harris Corporation Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 ### Computer Engineer @ MindWeaver Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Brooklyn NYC * Designed and implemented the prototype for a major company product in three weeks * Created a system for organizing C++ code using standard documentation methods and Github * Managed and trained other engineering employees and new hires * Began spearheading web development using Node.js and postgreSQL ### Firmware Engineering Intern @ Crestron Electronics Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 * Invented various methods to break code in order to test 20 encryption standards * Rewrote C code on a major company embedded device to ensure it followed proper Intel standards * Programmed a new feature onto a device blade. ### Electronical Engineering Intern @ Deuteron Technologies Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Jerusalem * Designed a microcontrollerbased LED flicker-free clock for providing resolution to high speed video recordings using CAD software and CodeWarrior. *Utilized knowledge of lab equipment to test newly built miniature radio-controlled radio controlled nerve stimulation systems. ### Research Assistant @ Rutgers Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 I was given an ARESTY Byrne summer grant to help Professor Sungchul Ji in his work on biological modeling in protein folding and decision times with several grad students. I sought to find if the graphs related to these biological functions displayed wave properties, by fitting the generalized Planck curve to their distributions and comparing that with other distributions originally used to fit the data, like the lognormal, or ex-gaussian, using Excel. Another task I was given was to model a much-idealized version of protein folding with Matlab. I was also given the opportunity to read and discuss other research papers with Professor Sungchul Ji, so that I may thoroughly understand the research that led to these models. Topics that I explored included the drift diffusion model, the graphical analysis of gene families and the relation to their amino acid chain length distributions and the properties of protein folding. ### IT Intern @ Central Jersey Blood Center Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 Using an existing form as an example, I was able to do the following, without having any previous programming experience: I designed and developed several windows form applications, which were used for entering large amounts of statistical data. In order to do this, I had to make the forms and connect them to back end stored procedures, using VB.NET and SQL Server. I then also designed and developed entry data forms for multiple users in different company departments, also using VB.NET and SQL Server. I also created user interfaces for numbers of survey reports using Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 for SSRS. I also did some data entry that was necessary for the company. ## Education ### Electrical and Electronics Engineering Rutgers University Jan 2013 – Jan 2017 ### New Jersey Governor's School of Engineering 2012 Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/esther-shima --- Source: https://flows.cv/esthershimanovich JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/esthershimanovich/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
