# Ethan Mick > Senior Software Engineer Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ethanmick I build amazing software. I believe that it's not acceptable to simply build software that is "good enough." Whatever you create should surprise and delight your customers. I work extremely hard to build things that help other people and solve needs. I love leading teams and working in groups to achieve common goals. Let's build something together. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer 2 @ CrowdStrike Jan 2024 – Present - Rebuilt, re-imagined and re-architected, CrowdStrike's internal developer platform using Next.js/React.js to increase developer velocity 200%. - Opened the internal developer platform up to other team's at CrowdStrike empowering them to build on top of the platform; on-boarding over 16 teams to create 20+ internal tools. - Created, curated, and updated platform documentation to increase platform development velocity by 20%. - Designed, built, and shipped the re-imagined microservice management section of the internal developer platform allowing over two thousand engineers to ship their microservices 50% faster while reducing deployment-related incidents by 20%. - Created and executed on an ambitious plan to rewrite legacy Python services (critical, but legacy!) into modern Go microservices while keeping 100% API compatibility, 0-downtime cutover, and no defects, massively increasing team velocity on the service and reducing maintenance issues by 80%. - And so much more... ### Founder @ Ethan Mick, LLC Jan 2023 – Present | Boston, Massachusetts, United States • Spearheaded custom software solutions that accelerated client project timelines, reducing development cycles by an average of 50% and directly enhancing client productivity and market responsiveness. • Engineered full-stack Next.js applications utilizing Agile methodologies to ensure products were high-quality, delivered on schedule, and aligned with budget constraints, resulting in a 100% client satisfaction rate. • Initiated and led educational collaborations between SRE and development teams to establish and uphold SLOs, improving service availability and bolstering stakeholder confidence through enhanced system observability. • Migrated three web apps to a new AWS account automated with Terraform with defined SLOs for reliability, resulting in full compliance. ### Director Of Application Engineering @ Syniti Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Boston, Massachusetts, United States • Rebuilt the frontend of the product with a new UI and UX in Next.js, resulting in an increase in a development efficiency increase of 24x. • Instilled a new development process with increased visibility and feedback resulting in 100x more contributions. • Managed, mentored, and taught a team of seven engineers, with 50% of them seeing career advancements. • Oversaw, managed and taught the cloud architecture of the Syniti Knowledge Platform. ### Senior Software Engineer @ Syniti Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Boston, Massachusetts, United States • Learned and migrated the architecture of the Syniti Cloud Platform to the EU region. From product conception, our team at Virtyx looked at endpoint monitoring and brainstormed ways to make it more approachable, easier, and better for small business and enterprises. We architected the platform so it could scale to thousands of endpoint agents collecting millions of metrics using Apache Storm and TimescaleDB. Our customers wanted a lightweight, easy to install, transparent agent to collect metrics. We created this agent in Go, allowing for native installation, fast code execution, and great parallelization. This agent utilized a powerful plugin architecture to allow dynamic tasks to be sent to it. Using this system, the agent could collect new metrics on demand without needing to update itself, allowing for quick developer iteration time. To control the agent, we designed and created a simple to user cloud dashboard. From the beginning, we focused on a SaaS model for ease of use. This dashboard showed the health of your fleet, the data that was being collected, any alarms or issues that had been detected by the system. The backend data pipeline was built to be expandable and smart. We piped live data through our analysis engine to automatically flag problems and learn on the fly without our customers needing to setup every alarm themselves. I could not have done this without my incredible team and their talent and engineering. We collaborated often and had our daily scrums where we hashed out blockers and kept each other up to date. ### Platform Engineer @ CloudMine Jan 2014 – Jan 2016 Worked on everything and anything in a fast paced startup environment. Most of my day to day was in Node.js and continuously updating our micro services. I built CloudMine's social integration, push notification service, customer code runner service, code-deployment service, the documentation service, as well as private NPM modules that replicate our data access layer and many Hapi plugins. I also helped on Compass, our new dashboard (built the logging feature and our new code page), the importer-exporter data service, and numerous other Node.js projects that helped our customers. On top of that, I was responsible for maintaining and updating the iOS SDK. I brought the code coverage up to 90% with over 400 tests. I worked directly with many clients to discover requirements, design powerful solutions, and implement them. ### Software Engineering Consultant @ CloudMine Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 Continuing work on many iOS projects for numerous clients. Working and interacting directly with clients to gather requirements. Designing the applications to ensure a high quality product. Developing the applications with constant feedback from the client. Updating the CloudMine iOS framework for all our developers. ### Software Engineer Intern @ CloudMine Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 Software Engineer Intern working on multiple iOS Applications for different clients. Work directly with the clients to establish requirements, design the application, iterate over development, and test the application. Also worked on keeping the iOS CloudMine framework up to date, communicating with a Ruby on Rails platform. Writing blog posts, finding bugs, working in a fast pace entrepreneurial environment is every day life! ### Program Manager Intern @ Microsoft Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | Redmond Worked in Windows Phone as a Program Manager, taking large ambiguous ideas and refining them in to actionable tasks. Created multiple specs for a client-server crowdsourcing system; defining the requirements for the server, client, API, and thought about the best way to achieve the goals. Executed over many weeks with a developer intern to create the project. Presented final project to management. ### Apple Intern @ Apple Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Cupertino Worked in a team environment to understand needs, design a product, and implement it. Discovered requirements for an universal iOS app, designed the project, and implemented it. Listened to feedback from users and continued to update the app to suit their evolving needs. ### ITS Desktop Support @ Rochester Institute of Technology Jan 2009 – Jan 2011 Worked one-on-one with customers to resolve computer technical issues. Supported numerous customers across Windows and Mac platforms. Worked with coworkers to resolve widespread issues quickly and efficiently. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Software Engineering Rochester Institute of Technology Jan 2009 – Jan 2014 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/ethan-mick - Website: http://www.ethanmick.com/ --- Source: https://flows.cv/ethanmick JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/ethanmick/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
