I'm Ethan, a software engineer interested in the development of technology that increases free expression, digital privacy, and digital security.

In pursuit of these interests, I created single container go api/svelte frontend which sought to provide a chat interface to on premise LLMs.

Building upon this effort, my undergraduate thesis researched 4 bit matrix vector multiplications essential for private ML inference on laptop grade Intel SoCs. 

My thesis reinforced the difficulty of programming non-Nvidia GPUs, which spurred me to create a program called openclc. Openclc seeks to provide a superior experience for developers wishing to employ open standard parallel computing interfaces like OpenCL and Vulkan targeting heterogenous end-user devices, while avoiding the complexity inherent in low level APIs.

• Created a Music Recommendation Engine using Python and Pandas that delivers general song suggestions and filters them based on criteria, like genre and time period
• Implemented an efficient solution based on listening history alone that required no analysis of the underlying song audio, which obviated the need for copyright approval for audio and allowed the raw data to fit on a laptop
• Improved the quality of song recommendations through the use of a BM-25 weighting scheme on the user-item interaction matrix
