Alexa Q&A Widget

- Designed and developed the microservice serving the widget. Scaled the service to handle the full Amazon.com search traffic (QPS in thousands). Performed load testing and tuned the service and its dependencies, e.g. Amazon Elasticsearch Service (AES). Reduce both the cost and latency of AES to half. Handle the service scaling and oncall during peak events.
- Designed and developed a full-text search solution for the widget using Elasticsearch, keeping high precision while increasing the coverage.
- Performed comprehensive business opportunity analysis for the widget. Expanded the widget to multiple product categories.
- Designed and developed the data ingestion pipeline for the Q&A corpus powering the widget.
- Optimized Spark jobs in data analysis pipeline using various techniques. Reduce the execution time of the pipeline to half.
- Developed a UI canary for end-to-end testing using Amazon CloudWatch Synthetics.


Alexa Product Answer Notification
- Developed and launched answer notifications for product questions on Alexa.
- Expanded the service into multiple international regions.
- Designed and developed an infrastructure-as-code solution to integrate dashboards, monitors, alarms. It allows easy configuration of multiple dimensions such as region, severity, metric type, etc., for 10+ dependent services via a uniform interface.
