# Fatma Ozcan

I am a Principal Software Engineer in the Systems Research@Google, since October  2021. Before that, I worked in Google Cloud BigQuery for a year, and before that I  was a Distinguished RSM and a senior manager at IBM Almaden Research Center working in the information management area and hybrid cloud. 

I am currently working on LLMs, ML and databases. More specifically,  working on ML for databases, NL2SQl, cost and cardinality models for data management,  large scale data analytics platforms,  big data, and HTAP.  Previously, I worked on Big SQL, and DB2 pureXML. I was one of the main architects of Big SQL, as well as the XQuery and SQL/XML compiler in DB2 pureXML.  I contributed to various SQL standards, including SQL/XML, SQL/JSON and SQL/PTF.

I am an ACM Fellow, and the co-chair of CRA-Industry. I have been on the board of directors of CRA since 2020. I served on VLDB board of trustees between 2016-2022, and served as the treasurer between 2017-2021 and as the vice-president between 2021-2025 of ACM SIGMOD. 

I am on the review board for TKDE and VLDB Journals. I served as the editor-in-chief for PVLDB Volumes 15 and 12, PC chair for CIDR 2021, CIDR 2022 and CIDR 2023, and general chair of SIGMOD 2016 and SoCC 2023.  I served as the industry PC chair for EDBT 2022, SIGMOD 2021, SIGMDO 2014, VLDB 2012 and ICDE 2007.
