# Felipe Melendez > Curious | Creative | Collaborative Location: Milpitas, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/felipemelendez I’m an insatiably curious builder who turns hard problems into elegant, reliable products. I thrive on teams—pairing, whiteboarding, unblocking—and I’m at my best when we’re shipping together and learning in public. Right now my focus is agentic AI: systems that self-correct, self-heal, and orchestrate tools to get real work done. I design agents that can search the web, call APIs, reason over feedback loops, and recover gracefully when things go sideways. The goal isn’t “a model that answers”—it’s a product that improves itself. Engineering snapshot • Frontend: React, React Native, Vue, TypeScript (type-safe, component-driven UIs) • Backend: Python, Node, SQL & NoSQL • Built production apps end-to-end—from data models and APIs to polished mobile & web What you can expect • A teammate who defaults to collaboration, clarity, and momentum • Pragmatic architecture, crisp interfaces, and strong typing where it counts • Agentic systems with guardrails, evaluators, and recovery paths—so they’re not just smart, they’re dependable I love shaping products where AI meets UX and complexity becomes clarity. I thrive with high-energy, purpose-driven, focused, ambitious, creative teams that move fast. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Pilot.com Jan 2022 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area ### Software Engineering Student @ Hack Reactor Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco Bay Area ### Software Engineering Student @ Qwasar Silicon Valley Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco Bay Area ### Data Analyst @ McCommas Law Firm Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area Organizing and analyzing decades of sentencing data and presenting parity discrepancies to strive to reduce or eliminate prejudice and bias in the criminal justice system. ### Field Technology & Service Capability Program Manager @ Applied Materials Jan 2008 – Jan 2009 Directed the design and development of a virtual collaborative environment that facilitated effective communication and streamlined issue resolution. This professional network and knowledge repository promoted relationship growth, fostered team building, and revealed engineering talent; it ultimately served to improve response time and thereby reduce the cost of operation of systems under service contract. ### Global Product Support Engineer @ Applied Materials Jan 2003 – Jan 2008 Led the development and oversaw the qualification of various components and programs that reduced the cost of operation of Applied Materials’ semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Also strategized initiatives that better leveraged the company’s collective knowledge experience. For instance: - Coordinated global forums to consolidate lessons learned and access the individual capabilities of Applied Materials’ remote field engineers. - Benchmarked the performance of Applied Materials’ tools under service contract, enabling the service organization to graphically contrast the behavior of similar tools at different sites. This facilitated the finding and proliferation of best known methods and thereby streamline issue response practices. - Designed a system to collect, organize and analyze the material and labor expenditure of Applied Materials’ systems under service contract. - Managed the development of a new service quoting tool that gave the sales organization the ability to offer customers on the spot service quotes. - Drove the development of “should cost models” that generated customer specific cost of operation targets. In this role I won the yearly “Outstanding Quality Award” in 2006. ### Founder @ PhiTribe Jan 2007 – Jan 2009 | Mountain View, California, United States Conceived an artistic social network that fomented creativity. To bring this concept to life I developed the companies’ business plan, designed the operational workflow of the website, determined the project's scope and requirements, and united a team of graphic designers, illustrators, and web developers to design and build the portal. For this I raised $1.2 million in funding capital. ### Co-Founder @ Phi Entertainment Jan 2006 – Jan 2007 | Mountain View, California, United States Created an entertainment concept that leveraged the planetarium’s immersive environment and projection technologies to produce a novel audio-visual entertainment experience. To materialize this concept I worked closely with architects and engineers to design a profitable multi-purpose planetarium theater, and worked with musicians, animators, and graphic designers to create captivating content. I also created strategic partnerships with various technology companies to design and build a showroom and production studio. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Mechanical Engineering Georgia Institute of Technology ### Master's degree in Humanities/Humanistic Studies California State University-Dominguez Hills ### Software Engineering Qwasar Silicon Valley Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 ### Software Engineering Hack Reactor Jan 2022 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/felipemelendez - GitHub: https://github.com/felipemelendez --- Source: https://flows.cv/felipemelendez JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/felipemelendez/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
