# Fernando B. Guimaraes > Software Engineer at Translucent Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/fernandobguimaraes I’m a software engineer with a background that spans startups, finance, and operations, now focused on building technology that improves access to healthcare and education. My career started at Brown University, where I helped launch and grow Farmer Willie’s Craft Ginger Beer (now Willie’s Superbrew). After graduating, I joined a sales and marketing consulting firm, where I gained hands-on experience designing and operating go-to-market systems for early-stage enterprise software companies. I later worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in São Paulo, where I focused on healthcare-related transactions and developed a deeper understanding of how broken, complex systems impact real people. That experience ultimately led me to Tomorrow Health, a health tech startup focused on bringing care into the home. Over the past several years, I transitioned fully into software engineering, building and owning production systems across the stack. My work has included backend services, data infrastructure, internal tooling, and automation that directly improved patient access to care, reduced operational burden, and scaled critical healthcare workflows. Alongside my work in health tech, I’ve also built education-focused software, including AI-powered tutoring tools designed to improve learning outcomes and encourage active thinking. I’m deeply motivated by building products that meaningfully help people, whether that’s ensuring patients receive timely care or helping students learn more effectively. I care about thoughtful engineering, strong ownership, and building systems that work reliably at scale. I’m especially excited by opportunities at the intersection of software, healthcare, education, and AI. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Translucent AI Jan 2026 – Present | New York City Metropolitan Area ### Sole Software Engineer/Tutor @ Educational Consultants Jan 2023 – Present | New York, United States I took initiative to design and build custom software products that improved how students learn and how educators operate.
