Lucasfilm's Habitat was the first MMO/Virtual World, shipping on the Commodore 64 in 1988 under the name QLink's Club Caribe, but it went through an extensive year long beta test.

NeoHabitat.org is the Open Source project that restores this historically significant multi-user game to full post-beta test functionality, using the original C64 binaries and a rewrite of the original game server in Java/Javascript. The service is now fully operational on all platforms (via emulators) and on original C64.

I lead this open source effort to restore this game as a public service - sponsored by The Museum of Digital Entertainment (The MADE) of Oakland, California.
