# Gabriel Foster > Taking some time away Location: Oakland, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/gabrielfoster Welcome to my corner of the universe! My name's Gabe, and I'm characterized by science and fiction. My current project involves finding wrinkles in diverse data. I'm also interested in lasers, non-associative geometry, and, in my free time, poetry. If you want to build something cool, there's a good chance I'm interested in helping. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Outlier AI Jan 2018 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco Bay Area Outlier collects and monitors data in real-time, and notifies you of important moments of unexpected or dramatic change. I believe that in the near future, making business decisions without the aid of automated data analysis will become passé. Outlier is making that future a reality. ### Lead Systems Software Engineer @ AEye, Inc. Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Pleasanton, CA I plan, coordinate, and execute projects at AEye which span the systems and software teams. These range from ensuring effective software integration of new hardware, designing new software subsystems, and defining system specifications. ### Senior Software Engineer @ AEye, Inc. Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Pleasanton, California I was responsible for building new sensing subsystems at AEye, maintaining the external API and build system, and designing a unit testing and continuous integration suite for the AEye codebase. ### Software Engineer @ AEye, Inc. Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Pleasanton, California I was responsible for developing AEye's image processing pipeline, maintaining the external API and improving sensor metric performance. ### Electronics Design Automation Engineer @ Thing Control Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area Thing Control automates the design, manufacture, and assembly of electronics. ### Undergraduate Researcher @ Caltech Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | Pasadena, CA I worked in the observational cosmology division of the astronomy department at Caltech, doing research on the BetaCage, an ultra-sensitive screener for surface contamination. In general, the BetaCage project seeks to help dark-matter searches find candidate particles instead of electrons. In particular, I investigated variation in signal pulse shaping across variation in contamination source location. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics Caltech ### UW-Milwaukee at Waukesha ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/gabefoster - Portfolio: https://practicingpoetry.wordpress.com/ --- Source: https://flows.cv/gabrielfoster JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/gabrielfoster/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
