# Gabriella Best > Incoming SWE @ Oracle | CS @ Cornell University Location: Ithaca, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/gabriellabest ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Cornell Rocketry Team Jan 2023 – Present | Ithaca, New York, United States Leading software design, integration, and testing for cross-functional teams of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Establishing clear project goals and deadlines with design documentation while prioritizing communication across sub-teams. Implemented C++ library for autonomous system that controls a rocket’s descent by pulling on the brake lines of a parachute. System integrated into onboard flight software, used sensor data to dynamically steer towards a predetermined GPS location. Performed rigorous ground testing with flight simulations to predict system behaviors, assess failure modes, and manage risk. Executed four flights on a testbed rocket to inform the closed-loop feedback control algorithm used on final launch vehicle. IREC 2025: Won 3rd Place in 10k Hybrid SRAD category; selected by team to present system’s execution and development. ### Milstein Scholar @ Milstein Program in Technology and Humanity Jan 2023 – Present | Ithaca, New York, United States Selected to be a part of a twenty-seven student cohort from the Class of 2026 who explores the intersection between technology and the humanities through specialized courses, lecture series, and projects. ### U.S.-Taiwan Semiconductor Supply Chain Researcher @ Milstein Program in Technology and Humanity Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | Taipei City, Taiwan Organized strategic interviews with industry leaders in AI chip design, IC packaging, advanced packaging research, broadband technology manufacturing, and supply chain management. Exercised interpersonal communication skills to drive research execution and deliver a written report of findings. ### Product Manager @ Milstein Program in Technology and Humanity Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | New York, New York, United States Created a virtual reality (VR) experience for the NYC Civic Engagement Commission's People's Bus. I collaborated with the resident artist to align with their goals of spreading awareness of city services and increasing voter participation in all five NYC boroughs. I implemented the experience by developing a 3D model using Blender, designing user interaction in Unity, and editing textures in Adobe Photoshop. The experience culminated in a presentation at Cornell Tech's Fall Open Studio where I communicated the project's development process and mission to visitors. ### Summer Program at Cornell Tech @ Milstein Program in Technology and Humanity Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | New York, New York, United States Took project-based courses in generative computing and artificial intelligence, participatory design, and innovation in public service as part of the eight-week scholars experience at Cornell Tech. Projects included developing a virtual reality experience for the NYC Civic Engagement Commission's People's Bus and website design for the Bronx Cooperative Development Initiative. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Oracle Jan 2025 – Jan 2025 | Seattle, Washington, United States Aiding development of a standardized internal service that performs data replication between a control plane and data plane using a multi-tenant publish-subscribe platform to streamline data distribution within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Creating a command line interface for deploying service operations using a REST API framework with JWT authentication. Ensuring fault tolerance and reliability by validating the interface with robust unit testing. ### Research Associate @ Cornell University Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | Ithaca, New York, United States Digitizing wasp movement with machine learning within Cornell's Department of Neurobiology and Behavior. Generating synthetic data to train a machine learning model for wasp pose tracking. Implementing a Python library to create image and JSON data with Blender. Improving model by experimenting with Blender scene elements (i.e. altering image backgrounds, wasp positions, etc.). ### IBM Accelerate Apprentice @ IBM Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 Among the top 5% of 10,000 applicants selected for the program. Engaged in immersive, interactive training sessions to develop skills in UX design, visual design, and design research. Performed outreach to IBM mentors to discuss optimal strategies for product development and user centered design. Culminated in a presentation of a product redesign that applied IBM design principles gained over the course of the program. ## Education ### Cornell University Jan 2022 – Jan 2026 ### Lakeside School Jan 2018 – Jan 2022 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/gabriella-best --- Source: https://flows.cv/gabriellabest JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/gabriellabest/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-01
