Some challenges we are tackling:

* Operational scaling: each EBS Edge deployment is a mini-datacenter, and we need tooling to enable a small team to monitor and manage hundreds of accounts automatically.

* Scaling down EBS: design decisions targeting large datacenters don't always scale down to Edge environments. We model system behavior to first understand, then mitigate, key differences in latency, availability, and durability characteristics between regional datacenters and edge deployments.
