As a Founding Software Engineer at Ramani, I had the privilege of joining the company in its early stages when we were a group of passionate hackers working remotely out of our houses. Since then, Ramani has experienced remarkable growth, expanding to more than 80 employees and establishing a thriving office at the heart of Dar es Salaam.
During my tenure, I played a pivotal role in building the core features of the Ramani platform, both on the backend and frontend. This allowed us to attract and onboard over 5 major brands, including Coca-Cola Tanzania, as valued customers. Allowing us to secure over 7 million US dollars in venture capital funding. One of the most exciting experiences I had was writing scripts to migrate our 2-year-old database, which contained over 150k documents, from Firebase Firestore to MongoDB. This critical step was essential for accommodating our rapid scaling and ensuring robust data management.
Additionally, I took charge of writing powerful Mongo aggregation queries to drive the functionality of the Ramani Dashboard reporting tool. The data visualization capabilities of this tool have proved invaluable in assisting our customers, enabling them to enhance their production by at least 2x.
In my day-to-day work, I extensively utilized a diverse tech stack that included Node, Express, React, Redux, Firebase, Mongo, Redis, Bull queue, Heroku etc, This wide range of technologies allowed me to tackle complex challenges and deliver high-quality solutions.
I'm proud to have been part of Ramani's ground-level journey.
