# Grant Storey > Software Engineer at Affinity.co Location: Berkeley, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/grantstorey Hi, I'm Grant! I love building things and learning things, which manifests itself in many different areas from software development to academic research to random hobbies. "Full stack engineer" is a boring way to describe my passion for building better, more user-friendly, more performant apps in every way possible: learning and implementing best practices, trying out new techniques, constantly innovating, and crushing tech debt. My research interests include Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics, Privacy and Security, and Classical Greek and Latin. In my free time I learn about cool linguistics stuff, play strategy games, make memes, and try to get enough sleep. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Affinity.co Jan 2019 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area ### Research Assistant @ Cornell University Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 Worked under the supervision of Professor David Mimno on style and emulation in Ancient Greek texts and analysis of language in freeform responses to survey questions. ### Research Assistant @ Princeton University Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 Worked under the supervision of Professor Arvind Narayanan on privacy research around Facebook's targeted advertising mechanisms and ad blocking and ad blocking detection technology. ### Software Intern @ Seeq Corporation Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 As a front end software intern I work on improving the Seeq application interface as well as maintaining the automated end-to-end system testing. ### Level I Analyst @ UCSF Jan 2011 – Jan 2013 I worked on creating a web-based interactive visualization to display the impact of various interventions on projected HIV infections and deaths over the next 20 years. ### Head Teaching Assistant for Elements of Web Design @ UC Berkeley's Academic Talent Development Program Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 The class had around 30 students divided into groups of five, each led by one of six teaching assistants. As the head teaching assistant, it was my job to help new TAs learn the job, ensure uniform grading of homework and quizzes, answer difficult questions, and keep everyone on task. I also took care of various administrative tasks like taking attendance and posting assignments to the class webpage. ## Education ### Master's degree in Computer Science Cornell University ### Bachelor's of Science in Engineering in Computer Science Princeton University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/grant-storey-1ba0178a --- Source: https://flows.cv/grantstorey JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/grantstorey/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-11
