# Hannah F. > Software Engineer @ FASHIONPHILE Location: Marina del Rey, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/hannahf My journey with programming had a very rocky start. After doing very poorly in AP Computer Science, I wanted nothing to do with computer science, so I majored in Math and Economics at UC San Diego. But I did still have to take one computer science course for a GE. Some residual knowledge must have snuck into my brain in high school because that class was a breeze. That’s when I knew I wanted to learn how to code. I had intended to add a CS minor, but I could not fit it into my schedule in four years. I tried self-studying throughout the years as well, but I never had the time to sit down and commit. So when I graduated, I decided to complete the UCLA Extension Coding Bootcamp, and it is probably the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. I discovered a passion for software engineering, and more specifically, full stack web development. Now when I wake up in the morning, I’m excited to sit down, code, and tackle a project. Through this experience I’ve learned that I’m a tenacious and ambitious person. My tenacity also applies on a smaller level to working through a coding problem. I’ll hit it from many different angles until I find a solution. In the future, I hope to take my skills and transfer them into developing iOS and Android apps. ✚✚✚✚ Soft skills ✚✚✚✚ ◊ Problem-solving ◊ Public speaking ◊ Teamwork ◊ Collaboration ◊ Detail-oriented ◊ Written and oral communication ✰✰✰✰ Technical Skills ✰✰✰✰ ♦ JavaScript ♦ Python ♦ React ♦ Typescript ♦ Jest (Unit Testing) ♦ GraphQL ♦ Node ♦ Express ♦ MySQL ♦ MongoDB ♦ HTML ♦ CSS Website: https://hannahfolkcodes.com Github: https://www.github.com/hannahfolk ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer II @ FASHIONPHILE Jan 2023 – Present - Develop and optimize the frontend (fashionphile.com) specifically on the checkout pages, creating a better user experience for customers - Maintain the site by keeping an eye on alerts and responding in a timely manner - Reorganize our testing in order to make sure that all code that is shipped out meets requirements and standards ### Software Developer @ Hearful Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 - Create and debug scraper spiders using Python and Scrapy, then add them to MongoDB for data analysis - Improve upon our frontend portal using React, Typescript, AWS Serverless, and AWS Amplify according to client need ### Frontend Developer @ Vuori Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 - Integrate frontend with Shopify using Shopify Liquid, React, and third-party apps like Algolia Search and Global E to improve online customer shopping experience - Optimize site by shifting from Shopify Liquid to a headless CMS with Contentstack and React Typescript ### Senior Tutor @ 2U Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 - Teach on a gradient so that each student knows the foundational topics before moving onto the next one, resulting in more students who are better prepared to be software engineers - Organize a roster of students and working with each one individually to schedule appointments that work for them and me so that we can tackle any challenges they may be having with the course ### Front End Web Developer @ The Sage Group (Bay Area) Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Remote ### Software Developer Intern @ TeeFury Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Irvine, California, United States - Successfully fixed multiple bugs and added features to the Teefury Artist Dashboard using React and Redux, resulting in a more polished UI and look of the application - Utilized agile methodologies by completing tickets on ClickUp within the given sprint times ### Lead Chrome Extension Developer @ Spokeo Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Los Angeles, California, United States - Built a Chrome Extension for Spokeo that scans a website for names, phone numbers, emails, and addresses, generating links to spokeo.com with those entities as the search terms - Connected the front and backends with Axios, React, and Express, overcoming CORS issues - Heavily researched the Chrome API for use with interacting with tabs so that the extension can effectively scan pages ### Tour Guide @ Warner Bros.
