As one of four full-stack engineers at Band, a platform for buying groups, suppliers, distributors, and a variety of other group purchasing organizations, I helped to build and scale a multi-tenant B2B web application with thousands of users. The platform was built on a Django backend and a React frontend, with a partitioned Postgres database supporting tenant-specific isolation. I played a key role in both backend and frontend development, working across the product, as well as the evolution of our tech stack and design system.
Led the project to migrate the frontend from Django templates to a modern React architecture, using Tailwind CSS for styling.
Designed and implemented UI components based on designs in Figma, and maintained a scalable design system used throughout the application.
Built and maintained core features and pages across the application, using external packages like react-hook-form, zod, Radix UI, Highcharts, and a variety of other libraries.
Wrote APIs for features across the app. Used complex queries and optimized data access patterns, often working with materialized views and advanced SQL logic. Worked with Django Ninja to create APIs with complex validation.
Used Celery to manage execution of asynchronous tasks.
Collaborated closely with product and design teams, and interfaced with customer success to translate customer needs into technical specs.
Took point on several key customer accounts, guiding the technical side of the onboarding process.
Worked extensively with AWS for deployment and monitoring, including Elastic Container Service, s3, and a variety of other tools. Monitored site issues in real time using Sentry.
Interacted with third-party softwares like OneSchema for spreadsheet upload, Postmark for automated email delivery, and Lingui for i18n and translation.
Used Sigma Computing to help build and maintain custom dashboards and visualizations for customers, and integrate these into our own application.

As one of four full-stack engineers at The Vendry, a platform to connect event planners with venues and vendors, I developed new features for the product and helped the company scale significantly. Using technologies such as Typescript, React, Next.js, Express, MySQL, and Docker, I worked on all parts of the product, planning and executing the implementation of new features and helping to scale the site with an increase in users of more than 40% in a period of 20 months, reaching more than 5,000 daily users.
Built new pages and components for the web app using React and Next.js. Implemented designs from the UI/UX team using Figma and Zeplin.
Built models and operations in Typescript to implement new features. Used the Express framework for Node.js, and built jobs running asynchronously on cron scheduling.
Built complex queries and migrations for a MySQL database in Typescript using Knex.
Supervised and mentored an in-person summer intern. Conducted his code reviews and held weekly meetings to discuss his goals and track his progress. Led his large-scale summer project by working with the product team to define the scope of the project, and wrote the tech spec.
Closely attended to problems with the site and addressed them in a timely manner. Used Sentry, Mezmo, and other software integrated into Slack for monitoring.
Built classes for accessing a wide variety of external APIs.
Worked in close collaboration with other teams at the company including the product, design, and marketing teams, and reported to the CEO and other non-technical stakeholders.
Took point on several major feature launches including the ability to make updates to published requests, a responsive map feature allowing users to add neighborhood preferences to searches by clicking, and assigning accolades to businesses and displaying them on their profiles.
