# Imelda Garcia Lopez > Product Designer focused on systems, workflows, and operations Location: San Juan Bautista, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/imelda Hi, I’m Imelda. I’m a product designer who works on complex systems, where multiple teams, tools, and workflows need to come together for things to actually work. My focus has been on making those systems clearer and more reliable in real use. That often means working across product, engineering, and operations to understand where things break down, align on what needs to change, and move the work forward. Over time, my role has extended beyond design into shaping how systems behave end to end, not just how they look. The goal is to reduce friction, improve clarity, and help people make better decisions so teams can move faster and systems perform more reliably. More recently, I’ve been exploring how AI fits into that. I built a real-time assistant to support autistic people in high-stress communication scenarios, and a tool to speed up research synthesis and surface patterns earlier. Both came from solving practical problems where better signals lead to better decisions. I’m interested in roles where I can stay close to this kind of work, improving systems, connecting workflows, and supporting better outcomes across teams. ## Work Experience ### Product Designer @ Unknown Jan 2023 – Present • Advised early-stage teams on product direction, workflows, and system design to improve clarity and reduce friction • Built and tested AI-assisted concepts, including a real-time communication tool to support autistic people • Explored ways to connect data, tools, and workflows to support better decision-making and reduce manual effort ### Staff Product Designer @ Bill.com Jan 2019 – Jan 2023 Vendor Direct • Led the design of Vendor Direct, improving how businesses send and process virtual card payments across a multi-step workflow • Found where payments became unclear after they were sent, and introduced clearer states and visibility so people could understand what was happening and what to do next • Worked across product, engineering, and operations to align how payments moved through the system, reducing support requests International Payments • Led international payments work focused on setting up vendors and sending payments across 130+ countries • Simplified complex, country-specific requirements into a clearer, step-by-step experience so vendors could complete setup with fewer errors • Worked with product, engineering, and business partners to ensure workflows held up across different countries, payment types, and compliance constraints • Focused on making cross-border payments easier to understand for both the sender and the receiver ### Senior Product Designer @ Sam's Club Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | San Bruno, CA Own Your Inventory (OYI) • Led the redesign of a mobile inventory tool used by associates and managers across stores • Brought together workflows that were previously spread across multiple systems, reducing the need to switch between tools • Made it easier for teams to see inventory and act on what needed to be done each day Sam’s Garage (Tire & Battery Center) • Led the design of a tablet-based tool to replace a manual, multi-step process for ordering tires and serving members • Simplified how associates find products, check availability, and complete orders, reducing time spent per transaction • Worked closely with store associates to understand how the process actually worked in practice and where it broke down ### Senior User Experience Designer @ MATRIXX Software inc. Jan 2015 – Jan 2018 | Saratoga, California Digital Commerce Platform (MyMATRIXX GUI) • Led the design of a web-based platform used by telecom teams to configure products, pricing, and billing workflows • Replaced a manual, code-heavy setup process with a more structured interface, making it easier to create and manage complex configurations • Worked closely with product, engineering, and sales to understand how the system was used in practice and where it broke down • Established the initial design approach and patterns as the first designer on the team White-Label Mobile SDK • Designed a mobile experience from the ground up that telecom partners could customize and launch under their own brand • Defined the UI, IA, and end-to-end flows used by sales teams to demonstrate the product to prospective partners • Focused on Android experiences to establish the core patterns and flows, which were then adapted for iOS to meet tight timelines • Simplified how users view plans, manage usage, and make changes, reducing reliance on customer support • Worked across internal and distributed engineering teams to ensure the experience held up across different partner implementations and markets • Helped shape how the mobile layer connected to a shared API and SDK, supporting a flexible platform across use cases ### Principal User Interface Designer @ Symantec Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Mountain View ### Art Director and Lead Designer @ Silverlign Group, Inc. an eBay Company Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Campbell, CA ### Senior UX Designer @ PayPal an eBay Company Jan 2010 – Jan 2012 ### Associate Design Manager | Lead Visual Designer @ PayPal an eBay Company Jan 2009 – Jan 2010 | San Jose, California ### Senior Visual Designer @ PayPal an eBay Company Jan 2003 – Jan 2009 | San Jose, CA ### Visual Designer @ Freelancer - Visual Design Jan 2009 – Jan 2011 | Silicon Valley, CA ### Senior Designer @ Zircon Corporation Jan 2002 – Jan 2003 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/imgarcia --- Source: https://flows.cv/imelda JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/imelda/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
