# Isaiah Raspet > Software Engineer Location: Oakland, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/isaiahraspet I am a software engineer with strong analytical skills and a background in developing information-centric and security-focused software solutions. After earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science from Northern Arizona University, I joined Google Cloud Security’s (GCP) SecLM team, where I worked on security-oriented AI projects. My contributions included developing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, integrating large language models (LLMs) with tool usage, and designing, deploying, and maintaining AI agents for applied security applications. At Northern Arizona University’s Pathogen and Microbiome Institute, I gained experience with scientific software development, contributing to the QIIME 2 framework and plugin ecosystem, improving reproducibility, and building tools such as the QIIME 2 Boots plugin for enhanced statistical accuracy. I also worked on PepSIRF, a platform for automated, large-scale serology data analysis, where I managed a small team of engineers and collaborated on research published in academic venues. During my internship at Google, I developed systems for improving engineering onboarding, data residency compliance, and annotation services. These experiences strengthened my skills in software design, technical documentation, distributed systems, and scalable service development. Technically, I am proficient in C, C++, Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, and SQL, with additional experience in Bash, Git, Linux, Windows, and technical writing. My academic training included coursework in operating systems, computer networks, distributed systems, advanced computer graphics, bioinformatics, and data science. I am especially interested in backend engineering roles, where I have the most experience. ## Work Experience ### Volunteer Software Engineer @ WeVote Jan 2026 – Present | Oakland, California, United States Developing and Maintaining the WeVote web app and API Server React, Python, Django ### Software Engineer II @ Google Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | San Francisco Bay Area SecLM Team Redesigned error handling and response templating for security APIs, reducing silent failures and increasing response correctness by 22% Refactored main agent reasoning query pipeline to integrate with Google’s modular agent framework, reducing legacy fragmentation and improving ease of use for customers Rebuilt real-time monitoring metrics for automatically executed LLM agent queries, refactoring existing evaluation pipelines to integrate with a modular agent framework and surfacing reasoning failures and response degradation patterns across teams Proactively identified deprecated API endpoints and organized a cross-functional effort to migrate functionality to newer systems, reducing warning and error logging noise ### Graduate Software Engineer @ Caparaso Lab, PMI, NAU Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | Flagstaff, Arizona, United States Developing and maintaining QIIME2 Assisting third parties with QIIME2 plugin development ### Software Engineer Intern @ Google Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Sunnyvale, California, United States Designed and implemented a microservice bridging incompatible annotation systems, unblocking enforcement of data residency requirements across internal data pipelines Developed flume pipeline to automatically retrieve data, apply annotation translations, and store records eliminating the need for manual translations ### Software Engineer @ Northern Arizona University Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Flagstaff, Arizona, United States Working with the Unity and Godot game engines to create an educational tool to teach students about quantum encryption, as well as some concepts within the field of cryptography. ### Software Engineer Team Lead @ Pathogen and Microbiome Institute Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Flagstaff, Arizona, United States Developing and maintaining PepSIRF and associated technologies, including a suite of Qiime2 plugins that allow for integration of PepSIRF functionality into the Qiime2 environment, as well as some additional pipelines exclusive to Qiime2. Delegating tasks to other software engineers working on the same suite of software. ### Software Engineer @ Pathogen and Microbiome Institute Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Flagstaff, Arizona, United States ### Software Developer @ Center for Materials Interfaces in Research and Applications Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Flagstaff, Arizona, United States Worked with Unity to create an educational outreach tool that allowed for multiple students in an educational setting to learn about the BB84 quantum encryption protocol. ## Education ### Master's degree in Computer Science Northern Arizona University ### Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Northern Arizona University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/isaiahraspet --- Source: https://flows.cv/isaiahraspet JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/isaiahraspet/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-10
