After a thorough investigation of Facebook iOS app internals, added prefetching and other performance optimizations for a high-priority navigation flow. Ran A/B tests in production to determine the impact of these optimizations. Part of the Community App Health Engineering team. 12 weeks.

Worked on an internal continuous deployment tool undergoing a rewrite in Rust. Learned reliability engineering, query optimization, and unit testing best practices. Gained familiarity with diff review, oncall, project planning documents, and navigating between different teams.

My intern project introduced enhanced logging to the tool in order to provide users with more insight into how their deployments were progressing. Learned a lot about the architecture in the process, seeing systems infra design close-up.

Working with the Information Systems & Cyber Division (ISCD), I assisted multiple projects, collaborating with other interns and software engineers. Researched and gained experience with containerization technologies, simulation techniques, and deep learning applied to computer vision. Created technical reports to pass these insights to customers. 10 weeks full-time, transitioned to part-time during the fall 2020 semester supporting computer vision power consumption research effort.
