# Jack McDevitt > Software Engineer at Rockbot Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/jackmcdevitt I am a full-stack software engineer who has worked extensively with a variety of frameworks and technologies, including AngularJS, Backbone, Node, and D3. I am also familiar with databases such as Redis, MySQL, and MongoDB, web authentication, APIs, and mobile-interfaces, such as Ionic. Furthermore, I have a range of experience with developer tools such as Git, Grunt, Gulp, and TravisCI. I also have experience deploying through Heroku and Microsoft Azure. I recently worked on a data visualization application called Data-Cycles that utilized 35 million documents from Bay Area Bike Share. With the data, stored in an ElasticSearch database, and Leaflet’s routing machine, I created an algorithm to calculate simulated bike routes based on trip duration and geolocation. I integrated D3 SVG elements into the front-end, representing cyclists and ripple-effects for dock activity, on top of a vector map. Furthermore, I architected a 10th degree polynomial machine learning algorithm to predict future dock activity. This gives users the ability to anticipate the amount of bikes at a dock, knowing in advance whether it is too full to return their bike or has no bikes to offer. Much of this information, as well as the simulated routes, is stored in a Redis database to provide for quick query times and prevent the other database from excessive queries. I am passionate about picking up new tech quickly and am always honing my skills. In the past I have thoroughly enjoyed working creatively with my hands and feel it is, while not as tangible, in a perfect relation to programming and the soul purpose for my entering the tech world. I'm an easy-going, hard worker who loves music, reading, and hiking, and whom wishes this last sentence didn't sound like it belonged in a dating profile. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Rockbot Jan 2016 – Present Paved the way for new design across the Rockbot.com website developing a trial flow, buy flow, pricing page, landing pages, and revamping the homepage, testimonials page, and many others.
